    **What You Will Do** The WGS Group Leader will lead a large group (75-100 people) of waste management coordinators. The Group Leader will report to the Division Leader for Waste Management and will manage part of the organization responsible for technical leadership, oversight, and management of a centralized waste management service organization to include Low Level Radioactive Waste, Mixed Low-Level Waste, and Hazardous Waste. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Group Leader will provide strong technical direction in waste management operations, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and procedural controls for safe, compliant, and effective waste handling and disposal. The Group Leader will help to establish and implement a technically rigorous and customer-focused approach to waste management, including detailed characterization, profiling, storage, treatment, packaging, transportation, and compliant disposal. Emphasis will be placed on operational execution of waste management strategies that meet or exceed federal, state, and Laboratory regulatory standards. **What You Need** **Minimum Job Requirements** + Extensive knowledge and experience in waste stream planning, characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal operations, with demonstrated ability to integrate regulatory and technical requirements into daily execution. + Demonstrated advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with federal and state environmental and waste management regulations, policies, and procedures, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Hazardous and Solid Waste Amendments, Hazardous Waste Packaging and Transportation, and Radioactive Materials Shipping. Must have a strong record of applying these requirements in operational settings. + Demonstrated advanced knowledge of waste management program development, administration, and technical implementation, including oversight of field operations and verification of compliance with procedural controls. + Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with environmental and waste management requirements. + Demonstrated advanced leadership and mentoring experience in the development of personnel and succession planning in a large complex business environment. + Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, interact, and work with internal customers/generators, regulators, local agencies, and the Public. + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with treatment storage and disposal facilities. + Record of effective technical leadership that emphasizes organizational skills, strategic and tactical planning, resource management, team building, program development, project management, financial management, and business plan development. + Ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship and ability to achieve organizational goals. + Ability to lead a team of professionals with a record of successful teamwork and consensus building consistent with working across organizational and program/project boundaries. **Education/Experience:** Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Minimum of 5 years related management experience. A Master's or PhD may be preferred at this level.
