Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide schedule, route, fare and other general information to phone-in and chat/email customers.
Ability to use Windows-based applications.
Ability to work independently.
Receive and document customer complaints and commendations through all media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Web Customer Service email, Bus Tracker and GRTC.com).
Represent GRTC with proper communication through Social Media platforms.
Knowledge of updating Social Media platforms.
Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including filling in at the Front Desk when the front desk receptionist is on break, and processing Lost & Found duties as needed.
Demonstrated Proficiency of all GRTC Fixed Route and Microtransit service lines.
Knowledge of geography of service area, including landmarks and transfer points.
Knowledge of route numbers and names; Headway reports; Fare structure for all service lines.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma/GED
Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements.
The call center training program is an intensive 3-month program. Proficiency will be gauged by the completion of two assessments: (1) assessment will determine level of proficiency regarding communication platforms (social media, email, website, app, etc.) (2) Determine proficiency in understanding and communicating information pertaining to fixed route service (including Clever) and microtransit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Twitter, Facebook.
Ability to effectively communicate with customers.
Ability to Exercise Frist Call Resolution skills and de-escalation techniques.

SUMMARY
Bus operators are responsible for operating transit service vehicles to include 29- to 60-foot buses used in public transportation in the greater Richmond region including but not limited to the City of Richmond, Henrico County, Chesterfield County. Assumes responsibility for the safety of our customers and equipment and performs routine vehicle inspections to ensure proper operations. Communicates appropriate information to customers, supervisors, and others designated to receive such information. Answers inquiries from customers and others. Follow agency transportation guidelines, operating rules, and procedures. Responsible for overseeing the safety of passengers, resolving problems, providing good customer relations, and maintaining public trust. Arrives on time and works independently with minimal supervision.
Note: A CDL or CDL Learners Permit with a "P" endorsement must be obtained prior to the start date to secure employment in this position. Applicants who actively hold the required credentials will be given preference during the screening process. Work performance is carefully and frequently evaluated by supervisors through monitoring of bus schedule adherence, driving record, and the courteous treatment of the public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates a transit vehicle to pick up, transport, and discharge passengers while adhering to route schedules.
Maintains a pleasant and courteous demeanor.
Performs a pre-trip inspection of transit vehicles for mechanical problems prior to beginning scheduled run. This includes conducting an external/internal visual inspection of the vehicle and pre-testing all necessary equipment, operating devices, and transit bus controls for use while in service. Also conducts an internal visual inspection at the end of shift to collect and turn in lost items.
Complete familiarization with system and safety features. This includes local geography and roadways of an assigned route and of the entire service area; traffic rules, regulations, and laws; transfer points; and fare structures (if applicable).
Provides information on bus services to passengers which include bus schedules, routes, and fare information (if applicable).
Receives and transmits two-way radio messages involving accidents, incidents, emergencies, unauthorized/illegal activities utilizing judgment and discretion to ensure customer and individual safety. Also checks for Clever on-board system for messages from dispatchers regarding detours and other information.
Maintains radio contact with dispatchers to report vehicle breakdown, accidents, interruptions in service, or other vital information to maintain efficient transit operations.
Completes forms as required, may prepare detailed written reports concerning accidents, incidents, breakdowns, and mechanical defects as required.
Adheres to safety rules, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure the well-being of GRTC customers and employees.
Collects proper fares from boarding passengers (if applicable).
Provides a high level of service while operating buses under a variety of conditions.
Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
Always maintains a professional appearance/ observes operator dress code.
Must be able to communicate effectively by using both written and verbal skills.
Other duties as assigned.

Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair Crown and all other makes of lift trucks.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

The CDL Driver Role:

Maintain radio communication with the branch and/or dispatch personnel
Load and unload the armored vehicle
Complete appropriate driving and delivery documentation
Report all faults experienced during the day's activity

The Qualifications You Must Have:
Minimum of 21 years of age
Able to lift at least 50 pounds
Minimum of Class B license

A valid guard card or ability to obtain a guard card or any other required licenses
Chauffeur's license OR ability to obtain one (Indiana, Louisiana, and Michigan residents only)

This role manages a small team and vendor partners to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights that advance safety, reliability, customer experience, and fiscal stewardship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance, KPIs, and Insights
Stand up and run the “Stat” review program (agendas, pre-reads, follow-ups) that drives accountability and closes the loop on actions.
Publish and maintain an enterprise KPI catalog with definitions, targets, owners, and data lineage.
Own executive/Board dashboards and the GRTC Performance Report; ensure clarity, accuracy, accessibility, and strong data storytelling.
Translate leadership questions into metrics, analyses, and visualizations; brief findings to executives and cross-functional teams.
Lead ad-hoc research and benchmarking; quantify benefits, risks, and tradeoffs to support operational and strategic decisions.
Align KPI methods to applicable guidance (e.g., FTA TAM), maintain benchmarking participation, and ensure accurate external submissions.
Data Platform and Warehousing
Co-develop the enterprise data & analytics roadmap with IT; define the migration path toward Microsoft Fabric over the coming year(s), including evaluations and small pilots.
Manage dimensional models and shared datasets; ensure consistent definitions and solid performance on the current stack (e.g., SQL Server/Azure SQL, Synapse/Databricks, or equivalent).
Standardize ingestion/ELT patterns from core systems (ERP, HRIS, operations/ITS, maintenance, finance, customer experience); document lineage, refresh cadences, and owners.
Establish pragmatic data quality checks (validation rules, issue tracking) and refresh monitoring; coordinate remediation with data/system owners.
Implement lightweight governance, including naming conventions, change control for datasets/reports, and periodic access reviews aligned with the principle of least privilege, and coordinate security with IT.
Promote Power BI and semantic model best practices; choose Import/DirectQuery patterns that are fit for purpose today, and plan for DirectQuery as Fabric adoption matures.
Maintain a concise data catalog and documentation, and define clear stewardship roles and responsibilities.
Partner with IT to introduce version control and simple deployment practices tailored to our scale; monitor key cost/performance KPIs and recommend improvements for right-sizing and scheduling.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Public Policy, Engineering, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred).
5+ years in performance management, BI/analytics, or operations research; 2+ years leading analysts or cross-functional initiatives.
Hands-on proficiency with SQL and a modern BI tool (e.g., Power BI); strong data modeling, validation, and data storytelling.
Demonstrated ability to run a performance cadence and convert strategy into measurable KPIs and outcomes.
Experience delivering analytics on a modern cloud data platform (e.g., Azure Synapse/Databricks/SQL + Power BI); exposure to Microsoft Fabric or leading a platform migration is a plus.
