When he joined Grubb Properties in 1993, the company had just landed its first deal in Charlotte.
1994 Grubb Properties creates its first fund, Rexford LLC, which achieves a 5.5x multiple and a 47% IRR for its original investors
Gordon spearheaded a major recapitalization of the company with Invesco Realty Advisors in 1999.
1999 Grubb Properties creates Sterling Real Properties, LLC, a $175 million fund with Invesco Realty Advisors
In 2002, he stepped down as president to start his own firm, Grubb Ventures.

Gordon bought the land in 2006 with plans to redevelop it, just before the recession, and has yet to determine what to do with it.

In the years leading up to 2008, Grubb Properties ceased all new investments, sold off as many properties as possible and shrunk the staff from around 200 people to 55.
