Gordon’s father, Robert Grubb, formed Grubb Properties in 1963.
In 1963, Robert Grubb started his firm and continued growing his business and adding more properties and products.
1963 Robert Grubb incorporates a home-building business that combines property with compassion and will later become Grubb Properties
1972 Grubb Properties becomes the largest home-builder in Davidson County, NC
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina was founded in 1980 as the Community Food Bank, the first food bank in the state.
But Britt lost his seat after just one term in 1985, and Gordon decided to return to North Carolina.
When he joined Grubb Properties in 1993, the company had just landed its first deal in Charlotte.
1994 Grubb Properties creates its first fund, Rexford LLC, which achieves a 5.5x multiple and a 47% IRR for its original investors
Gordon spearheaded a major recapitalization of the company with Invesco Realty Advisors in 1999.
1999 Grubb Properties creates Sterling Real Properties, LLC, a $175 million fund with Invesco Realty Advisors
In 2002, he stepped down as president to start his own firm, Grubb Ventures.
2003: American Society of Landscape Architect’s Honor Award (Gardens on Glenwood) Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Community Appearance (Gardens on Glenwood)
Gordon bought the land in 2006 with plans to redevelop it, just before the recession, and has yet to determine what to do with it.
2008: Metro Magazine’s Standing Ovation Award for “Best new Inside-the-Beltline neighborhood” (for The Oaks at Fallon Park)
In the years leading up to 2008, Grubb Properties ceased all new investments, sold off as many properties as possible and shrunk the staff from around 200 people to 55.
2011: Best Address (to Live!) by the readers of Midtown Magazine (for The Oaks at Fallon Park)
2012: Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Champion Award for CREW Excellence Best Address (to Live!) by the readers of Midtown Magazine (for The Oaks at Fallon Park)
2014: Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors (TCAR) Development of the Year Award (for 401 Oberlin)
2016 Link Apartments℠ becomes the company's primary growth strategy, focusing on the creation of urban essential housing at a time when America is facing its greatest housing affordability crisis
