    This part-time adjunct instructional faculty position requires: * A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, engineering technology, industrial technology, or a related field, OR * An associate's degree in engineering/industrial technology, or related field, with 6-10 years of experience in industrial electrical, fluid power and mechanical maintenance and training. * Relevant certifications such as Certified Electrical Technician (CET), OSHA safety certifications, and other industry-specific credentials are a plus. * Collegiate teaching experience is preferred. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and technology skills with the ability to work in diverse teams. The primary duty of this position is to work with a team that staffs the Directed Learning Lab (DLL) for the Industrial Technology program. The DLL is an open lab that lab has a variety of trainers in key industrial maintenance areas: electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems and programmable logic control (PLC) which students can visit on their own time to practice and demonstrate technical abilities that complement online portions of courses. Adjuncts that staff the DLL assist students with equipment setup and technical procedures, and oversee the assessment of technical competency. Therefore, proficiency in electrical theory, electrical systems, AC and DC Drives, PLC programming, motor and motor controls, process control and automation, fluid power (pneumatic and hydraulic components and systems) relay logic and troubleshooting in these areas are required. Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and codes are a plus. Patience and adaptability to students of various skill levels is a must. Locations and Times * Springfield Campus Directed Learning Lab Hours: * Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. * Saturday: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. * Xenia Directed Learning Lab Hours: * Tuesday-Thursday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Adjunct faculty are expected to be progressive in instructional strategies and in their discipline and to be collegial in their relationships with colleagues, staff, and students. Each adjunct faculty member is directly responsible to a departmental/school administrator. Course curricula are provided to instructors in our Blackboard learning management system (LMS). Blackboard certification required for all online instruction. Training will be provided. Compensation for Adjuncts in Non-Clinical Courses $660 per load hour or $33.71 per contact hour. Teaching/Learning Successful teaching in a learner-centered environment requires knowledge as well as the ability to design, implement, manage and assess courses taught in a variety of instructional modes. Each adjunct faculty member is required to: Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the subject area(s) Use instructional and discipline specific technology Design courses that effectively meet student and curricular needs Accommodate students with varying backgrounds and learning styles Develop and use syllabi within College/School guidelines Deliver course content successfully Participate in the assessment of student learning Manage courses such that students receive regular feedback and college reports are submitted in a timely fashion Meet all classes or provide alternatives Provide external support for students and through cooperation with student services Maintain professional relationships with students. Process credits, refunds and transfers for programs, activities and pass registrations. Acquire, through provided training, a working knowledge of RecTrac and other city software that is used daily. Answers telephones and responds to inquiries over the telephone and in person; refers and assists guests and other callers; responds to various inquiries and provides information of services and functions; receives complaints from a variety of sources; greets visitors; opens. Generates work orders; enters orders and maintenance records into the computer; runs monthly reports. Salary ranges from $1,500.00 to $1,800.00 per course Reports to Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences Internal OCU Relationships include administrators, faculty, staff, support personnel Duties and Responsibilities * Maintain a course load as determined by the Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences. * Curriculum Support * Regular review of curriculum in the area of literature. * Research & recommend resources * Faculty Services * Assist Dean with faculty concerns within the applicable discipline area * Assist Dean with student complaints and concerns within discipline area * Student support Qualifications According to Ohio Christian University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the OCU Community Lifestyle Statement. * Doctorate preferred (Master's degree minimum) in English or related field. * Preferred experience teaching English, especially in higher education. * Familiarity with current research, publications, and pedagogy in the discipline. * Curriculum development experience at the associate's and/or bachelor's levels. * Excellent organizational skills. * Excellent team-building and leadership skills. * Capable communicator both in group settings and in individual meetings. * Normal office work; no heavy lifting is required.
