Gulf Coast State College, opened in 1957, was the first public two-year institution to be opened in the Panhandle. Since its opening, Gulf Coast has been dedicated to providing first-class education around your schedule. With a growing catalogue of online academics, Gulf Coast works to create a tailored experience for each student. This school also offers a variety of financial aid options so that students can attend college on their schedule and in a way that is financially feasible. For students that prefer a modified learning environment, Gulf Coast also offers hybrid classes. These classes offer a combination of in-class meetings and online learning activities, allowing students to benefit from the best of on-campus and online learning. Currently GCSC offers an e-Campus associate's degree with a focus on Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Psychology, History and many more. Prospective students must submit an application for admissions either online or through the mail. Students need to submit their official transcripts, take a placement test and pay a $5 testing fee before they can register and pay for classes. The admissions requirements for Gulf Coast are straightforward; as they have an open-door policy, all eligible applicants who possess a high school diploma or equivalent will be accepted. In addition to the testing fee, there is also a non-refundable $20 application fee. Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid by completing their FAFSA once they have submitted their admissions application. The sooner a student submits their FAFSA, the better their chances are of being awarded the financial aid they need. Gulf Coast also offers a rich college life full of student organizations in the form of clubs, boards, associations, and honor societies.
