While at Stanford, he was a member of the VLF (Very Low Frequency) Laboratory, where he researched man-made and naturally occurring low frequency electromagnetic wave propagation throughout the Earth's upper atmosphere.

After graduating, he worked as a Senior Project Engineer at Volkswagen Group of America Electronics Research Lab, where he led research and development for cloud-based navigation and speech recognition systems for Volkswagen and Audi.

In 2008, he joined the YCombinator program and started Picwing.com, which specializes in making it easy to send printed photos to loved ones. Picwing was acquired in 2011.

Edward is also very active in the Android community as an independent developer, having developed award-winning apps such as Car Locator.
