We are seeking a CNC/Laser Programmer to join our Engineering team. This role is dedicated to programming and CAD/CAM support - not machine operation. The Programmer will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining programs and CAD files for CNC laser and fabrication equipment, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and manufacturability.
The ideal candidate has strong CAD/CAM expertise, experience in nesting and toolpath optimization, and a collaborative mindset to support both Engineering and Production.
Key Responsibilities
Develop CNC and laser programs from engineering drawings, CAD files, and product specifications.
Translate 2D/3D CAD drawings into optimized machine-readable formats (nesting, toolpath).
Create and maintain program libraries, ensuring version control and accuracy.
Optimize material utilization and reduce scrap through effective nesting strategies.
Partner with Engineering to improve manufacturability and standardize programming practices.
Collaborate with operators to troubleshoot issues, but remain engineering-focused (not machine operation).
Support introduction of new products and processes, ensuring smooth transition from design to production.
Maintain documentation of programming standards, CAD files, and procedures.
Contribute to continuous improvement and process optimization within fabrication operations.
Assist in equipment specification and evaluation during capital projects (when programming input is required).
Qualifications
3+ years of CNC/laser programming experience in a fabrication or sheet metal environment.
Proficiency with SigmaNest and AutoCAD required; familiarity with other CAM systems (e.g. CAMPlus, CAMProX, SheetCam) a plus.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, assembly).
Experience with nesting, toolpath optimization, and CAD file preparation.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and version control discipline.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Production, and Quality.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and process improvement methods preferred.
Exposure to PLC programming and robotics a plus but not required.

Individuals assigned to the Machine Shop shall be able to use blueprints, drawings, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing files to program by using computer software such as Mastercam CAD/CAM, SolidWorks, and/or Fusion 360 for the Computerized Numerical Control machines and operate CNC machines to produce precision metal or plastic parts. Must also set up different types of equipment that are controlled by computers to accomplish goals with accuracy while maintaining high level of production rates. Main Responsibility:

JOB POSTING JOB TITLE: Tool Maker/Model Maker DEPARTMENT: Model Shop REPORTS TO: Model Shop Manager The position is responsible for planning the total process required to produce the one off manufacture of prototype parts, including designing temporary fixtures and work holding.
Be able to program offline, using Mastercam X and above versions of software. Produce CAM programs for multi-axis milling, multi-plane machining, and surface machining.
Have good working knowledge of materials, cutting tools and required speeds and feeds.
Able to setup and proof programs. Be responsible for the inspection of his product and troubleshooting of problems in assembly or as a result of testing. Must be able to organize the manufacture of multiple part revisions throughout the development.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
* Five plus years' experience producing components on CNC machine tools.
* Qualified Individual with 5 plus years' experience preferred.
* CAD CAM CNC machining and programming capability.
* Valid driver's license.
* Must have excellent math skills including: Basic Mathematics, Plane Geometry and Trigonometry.

* Set up and operation of all CNC or conventional machines tools and grinding equipment in the Model Shop.
* Able to read drawings and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Your tasks * Perform complex CNC setups on all machines (CNC Swiss Turn/Lathe/Mill) and (Heidenhain/Fanuc/Haas Controller) * Create CNC programs using MasterCAM, Esprit, or Equiv. for various CNC machine types, including creating setup sheets * Able to fully train Level I & Level II, and new operators to run and setup CNC machines.
* Design, program, and machine any work holding fixtures, make manual edits to G and M codes, trouble shoot code for issues
Your profile
* Certificate of completion in operation of machine shop equipment and measuring tools or recent two years' experience as a machine shop operator level 3.
* Strong computer skills as CNC Operators use computer software to control machinery
* Strong math skills for inputting specific dimensions and figures into the CNC machinery: GD&T (Geometrics, Dimensioning, and Tolerances).
