Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K Safety policies
Follow and assure compliance with quality control plans
Sample and test materials following standard practices and quality plans
Maintain test records and assure compliance with company and agency specifications
Maintain a clean, organized work environment
Read and follow H&K Group employee handbook protocol and procedures
Calibrate and maintain test equipment to standards
Establish and maintain lines of communication with plant operations, agency representatives, and quality control supervision
Work with sales team to address customer issues
Generate reports and communicate results and trends to the quality control team and H&K employees
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
Strong work ethic and organizational skills
Algebra-level math to perform AASHTO and ASTM procedure calculations
Rudimentary ability to use computers, spreadsheets, word processors
Able to work in a team or independently as needed

Attainment of NECEPT technician qualification within 18 months of hire
Ability to meet standards of PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, the FAA, and other recognized authorities

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
Previous experience working with aggregates and bituminous materials
NECEPT bituminous plant and aggregate certification

Basic knowledge of crushing and asphalt plants

+ Understand and follow all applicable quality system procedures, performing all assigned responsibilities outlined in the QMS.
+ Perform Receiving (REC), First Article (FAI), In-Process (IP) and Final Inspections (FI) on electrical and mechanical assemblies visually and/or with inspection equipment.
+ Immediately notify operators, or supervision of any non-conformances in products
+ Perform all quality reporting requirements outlined in the MCD Quality Management System (including the inspection checklists, Data Collection Reports (PDCR), hold logs, discrepancy notices, waiver logs etc.) Identify for segregation nonconforming units following the MCD Nonconformance procedure for prefabricated and purchased products.
+ Assist in the training of operators and provide guidance.
+ Assist in the problem-solving process.
+ Participate in the Daily ORM work briefings to represent the Quality Portion.
+ Assist in root cause, corrective and preventive action development for systemic issues.
+ Advise appropriate party of any corrective action to be taken.
+ Coordinate with supervisor to ensure all shifts are covered appropriately in case of absence of an inspector.
Qualifications
**Experience / Education Required:**
+ Associates Degree in Technical Discipline (may be substituted for quality related experience)
+ At least 6 years hands-on experience in construction, estimation, and/or quality control activities.
+ Experience with reading and interpreting contractual requirements, drawings, BIM models, specifications, current NEC codes, NETA and other applicable standards
+ Experience with receiving, production, shipping and quality processes.
+ Excellent communication skills (written, and verbal)

About the Role
The Quality Technician 1 is responsible for quality inspection for all products to ensure they conform to all applicable company and quality standards. This position will test products after, in process, and in final stages to ensure quality levels are met.

What You'll Do
· Ensures all test equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
· Performs routine & job specific load performance tests to ensure compliance with published specs.

· Performs testing needed for qualifications of new or revised products.

Requirements: Quality Inspector
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or qualifications in quality assurance are preferred.
Proven experience as a Quality Inspector, preferably in the metal fabrication or manufacturing industry
Strong knowledge of quality control principles, methods, and techniques
Proficient in using measurement tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)
Excellent attention to detail with an ability to identify and document quality issues effectively.
Familiar with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is a plus.
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies is an added advantage.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The quality control group monitors, supports, and influences the design, configurations, and actual construction necessary to guide our design and production teams to manufacture high quality industry leading homes and components for our customers in accordance with regulatory requirements.
The quality control inspector undertakes the inspection of materials, components, and final products to confirm adherence to quality, regulatory, and engineering specifications. He/she works collaboratively with production departments to identify ways to continuously improve production quality. The quality control inspector may work independently or under direct supervision executing specific process steps under continuous quality review and coaching as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Works in a safe manner following all safety policies while performing job duties.
Undertakes to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees by identifying any safety standards, procedures, or regulations that are not optimally addressed. Maintains open communication with supervisor regarding safety concerns.
Follows work orders and instructions in order to accurately and efficiently review the preparation and assembly of building components based on production area specifications and regulatory requirements including HUD specifications.
Inspects incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure materials and products meet specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable drawings; conducts visual and measurement tests; documents and communicates rejections of unacceptable items and required corrections; ensures defective products are not delivered to the customer.
Works collaboratively with production supervisors, team leads, and line assemblers to discuss inspection results and provides guidance as needed.
Documents inspection results by completing inspection reports and checklists; communicates any violations of the quality process or adherence to job performance requirements to Production Supervisors and QC Manager.
Maintains a good attendance record and proactively communicates and coordinates with supervisors regarding attendance.
Keeps inspection and measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and notifying management when repairs are necessary.
Assists in maintaining and keeping tools, machinery, and work area clean and organized.
Performs various other job duties as assigned and needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age.
This can be a physically demanding job requiring the ability to lift 40+ pounds, to grip, work over head, pull at chest height, bend, stand, walk, kneel, crawl, push, pull, reach, climb and carry various materials and equipment.
High school diploma and substantial experience in and clear understanding of the requirements and expectations across multiple production areas in a fabrication / manufacturing environment expected. Must have experience reading and interpreting schematics and excellent problem-solving skills.
Experience in quality control Inspection preferred including building code knowledge, ability to gain an understanding of construction manuals, standards, regulations, and specifications regarding the products.
Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Ability to build effective relationships with fellow employees and supervisors including when providing constructive feedback and inspection results.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Ability to handle multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
Ability to work in a team, to be trained, and take direction.
Flexible to work in a fast paced, changing environment.

Rejected items are to be placed on a skid at the end or beginning of the line
