Founded in 1888 with just 12 beds, Hackensack University Medical Center was Bergen County’s first hospital.
Theurer’s passing in 1994, Mrs.
Her 2010 leadership gift of $10 million established John Theurer Cancer Center, named in tribute of her late husband.
In April 2015, HackensackUHN welcomed Palisades Medical Center as a full member of the Network.
Hackensack University Medical Center was listed as the number one hospital in New Jersey in United States News & World Report’s 2017-18 Best Hospital rankings – maintaining its place atop the NJ rankings since the rating system was introduced.
Hackensack University Medical Center broke ground on the Helena Theurer Pavilion in September 2019.
