Overview
The Trauma/Surgical ICU (TSICU) is a 28-bed critical care unit specializing in caring for traumatically injured patients or those undergoing complex surgeries requiring close monitoring and care. Patients are admitted directly from the ED, the Ross Trauma Admitting Area, or the operating room. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures, and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. Many patients cared for in the TSICU are poly-trauma patients, with injuries involving more than one body system. Common surgical patients include those undergoing Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, gastrostomies, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners, resident physicians, and attending trauma surgeons. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapists and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the trauma patient's care.
Experience Required
A minimum of one year or more of RN acute care experience in an inpatient setting is preferred

Our nurses provide expert neurological care in both settings to ensure seamless continuity of care for our patients across a wide range of neurological diagnoses. With the most advanced technology and providers, Cooper expands its capabilities to care for neurological patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Coronary Care Unit is a 12-bed cardiac intensive care unit. The CCU cares for complex cardiac critical care patients including structural heart (TAVR), pre-cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and other critical cardiac disease processes. A day in the life of a Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

Short Description
A nonexempt position responsible for the nursing care under the supervision of physicians, providers and/or registered nurse(s). May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including physical assessments, medication administration, promotion of wellness through patient education and teaching, care of the patient environment and organizational tasks. Maintains working knowledge of regulatory standards and is accountable to sustain these standards in daily operations. Initiates and implements patient teaching plans. Clinical direction, oversight and competency review is provided by medical providers and ambulatory professional development team in coordination with office management.
Education Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
License/Certification Requirements
Current New Jersey LPN License (Licensed Practical Nurse).
BLS issued by the American Heart Association
