The Anna Shaw Children's Institute (ASCI) is a developmental behavioral practice and an affiliate of Hamilton Healthcare System, Inc. (HHCS). ASCI was created as a responsive entity to meet the medical and psychological pediatric care services needed for children with developmental delays and/or the behavioral issues related to those delays within Dalton, Georgia and the surrounding region. Additionally, the ASCI will provide Physical, Occupational, Speech and Feeding therapy services to the same pediatric population. As an essential member of the care team, the pediatric neuropsychologist will collaborate with other team members to conduct a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of the developmental and psychological status of a child or adolescent. He/she will administer, score, evaluate, and report intellectual, cognitive, behavioral, personality, and neuropsychological test data; including findings. The findings should be reported accordingly to the parents or guardians of the child, disciplinary team, and other health professionals who are directly involved in the care of the child or early adolescent. Educational programming recommendations may be formulated by the child psychologist based on the assessment findings. Additionally, the psychologist will work closely with the psychology team to recommend management of psychosocial aspects of chronic and acute conditions by providing recommendations for the child (and family) to assist with needed counseling, strategies for success and promotion of safety, understanding and good mental health. He/she will participate as an active treatment team member, demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life cycle and demonstrate an understanding reflective of the patient's current status, age (functional), diagnosis and specific needs when completing recommendations. Other duties may include supervision of post-doctoral fellows and/or psychometrists.

The chaplain ministers to hospital/hospice patients, families, medical staff, and the community at large. The chaplain serves as a member of the Medical Center's multi-disciplinary team in providing comprehensive holistic health care. The chaplain performs pastoral care, educational and counseling services, and administrative duties. This position assists with selection, orientation, supervision, and continuing education of per diem chaplains. The Chaplain also supports Clergy and their associations to facilitate pastoral support and visitation of hospitalized parishioners. This position assists patients and in training of staff by providing information about advance medical directives and by assisting with the execution of the advance medical directive as requested by patients. Identifies and assists with revenue cycle reimbursement issues, identifies trends in payer payment practices and communicates with stakeholders. Completes credentialing and re credentialing applications, maintains inventory of contracts and terms, including rate grid with updated rates on all managed care contract agreements.
