The primary goals of this position are to improve hospital throughput, increase inpatient bed utilization and reduce patient or bed turnaround delays. Uses Medhost technology, rounding, Cerner and communications with staff to maintain an understanding of house-wide bed supply and demand. Provides and coordinates direct care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in the Progressive Care Unit utilizing the nursing process. Is responsible for appropriately managing care of assigned patients who present with illnesses and/or diseases whose needs fall between what must be delivered in the ICU and what can be handled on most general medical floors. The Imaging Nurse will also routinely attend the Nurse Practice Council and other appropriate meetings to stay abreast of nursing practices and standards. The ability to communicate effectively with the necessary parties to find the most efficient and effective solutions to patient placement is essential to the role.
