We have immediate openings for Machine Operators at a well-known beverage manufacturing company in Milwaukee!
2nd shift must be able to flex to 3rd shift if needed
$15-17/hr BOE

Job Description:

Operate, maintain and troubleshoot multiple pieces of production equipment in execution of daily production schedule according to the SOP for production equipment.

What would success look like?

Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment start up and operation Operate/Monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality product and minimal unplanned stops Accurately and efficiently perform steps necessary to conduct flavor/package changes and proper shut-downs to minimize down-time wasted resources Maintain clean work environment and production area Perform all tasks in a safe manner and uphold safety standards Perform Quality Checks as required Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high-quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials Participate in daily team/shift meetings and other work-related activities


Qualifications


Experience in reading and following written SOP’ s (Standard Operating Procedures) or instructions Competency in the operation/monitoring of two or more related and/or interdependent processes Must have basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills Familiarity/Experience with up-stream and down-stream processes is preferred Competency in monitoring and adjusting equipment speeds, pressures, & temperatures using simple tools as needed Ability and experience in starting/stopping equipment and operating equipment in “ auto” and “ manual/jog” Ability and experience in making mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic adjustments to “ fine-tune” processes based on observations of equipment operation Simple process understanding Simple tool usage Must be able to complete work requests and forms (handwritten and/or computer-based) to accurately document production/downtime Must be able to follow verbal instructions Strong math skills Ability to lift 50 pounds on a repetitive basis Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend and stoop throughout shift Ability to work in extreme temperatures and work in noisy conditions


Preferred


Prior Forklift experience is a plus Previous experience working in a high-speed manufacturing environment is strongly preferred Prior machine operator experience is strongly desired

Associates engaged in coating operations who performs the following essential job functions:
A Web Handler I position is typically defined as having been trained on 1 or more equipment areas within the department.
Essential Functions:
Performs a variety of production tasks, which include but are not limited to – setting up equipment, adjusting and operating equipment, observing for proper functioning of equipment, inspecting and testing products, etc. Accurately performs work assignments and computer transactions that are required to adjust inventory; accurately performs calculations using various units of measure Demonstrates ability to perform any of the various operations within the department Performs visual inspection of all materials used and produced Performs periodic preventative maintenance on equipment Maintains work flow and ensures use of proper materials and tools Maintains a safe and clean work environment; notifying lead operator and/or supervisor of unsafe practices, conditions, or acts Achieves quality and throughput goals Performs work according to SPAR’s, WI’s, and verbal instructions; seeks lead operator and/or supervisor assistance in resolving problems which are not covered by procedures Effectively communicates with other associates, lead operators, supervisors while maintaining the self-confidence and self-esteem of others; relays information to the next shift; voluntarily assists other associates, and communicates effectively to prevent problems from occurring Completes required verifications and paperwork/documentation, accurately and neatly Participates in training and assists with training, where applicable Collaborates and contributes to the development of new products, processes, and equipment Participates in problem-solving and takes initiative to make changes through change control procedures Responsible for following all relevant regulations (e.g. ISO, FDA, OSHA, EPA, DEP, etc.) and company procedures. Job Specifications:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent and previous production experience is highly desirable (preferably in web handling, such as paper or fabric manufacturing, printing, coating, etc.) Uses procedures and skills, which require considerable training, to carrying out assignments Operators work per instructions (verbal and written) and consults with lead operator and/or supervisor as needed on matters not specifically covered by instructions; work is cross-checked to review for accuracy, adequacy, and adherence to instructions Conforms to Company policies and procedures, Quality Systems, etc. Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, irritant chemicals; may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, uniforms, hairnets, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, shields, etc. Physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities should be expected; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items (objects 50-100 pounds with lift assist); requires common physical characteristics and abilities, such as above-average agility and dexterity The work involves the execution of procedures which make up a finished product of a broader scope; the component product affects the accuracy, reliability, or acceptability of further processing

Shift timings:

1st shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm Mon - Fri
2nd shift: 4:00pm - 12:30am Mon - Fri

Samples bulk drums for testing.
Marks and labels drums and drum samples as needed.
Responsible for transportation of bulk material and packaging supplies to the work area.
Performs quality checks, including torque checks, fill height checks.
Performs drum line clean out, including flushing and sampling.
Hand fills storage tank, drop truck and rail car lines.

Education
High school diploma or GED required

Experience
The successful candidate will have previous warehouse experience, including RF Scanning, Forklift operation and may be required to use respirator
Effective verbal and written communication skills including detail orientation and accuracy in documentation
Previous experience with computers is required
Previous experience in a chemical environment in preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Candidate must be comfortable working in an environment with hazardous and non-hazardous materials
Effective verbal and written communication skills including detail orientation and accuracy in documentation
Ability to work alternately in a seated or standing position is required
Knowledge of safety practices is desirable

Machine Operator:

What will you do?
Performs varied maintenance and minor repair work to keep the mechanical Filling Units and Packaging Equipment in good working condition.
Required to work in a safe manner and under a minimum of supervision.
Work requires knowledge of the purpose, construction, and assembly of the machinery and equipment and mechanical ability.
At least one year of experience as a Chemical Packager (Filler) in the same department is required.
Must participate in necessary training and successfully demonstrate the ability to operate the equipment.
Examines machinery or equipment; determines and performs cleaning and minor repairs. Performs quality checks as instructed and records data as required.
Executes changeovers of the packaging lines, often in conjunction with the machine mechanic, and makes operating adjustments as needed throughout the packaging line runs. Responsible for working safely and for producing quality products.
Is expected to do all possible to minimize downtime and material losses.
Keeps work area clean. Performs, as required, other duties incidental to the position.
