The role focuses on establishing and maintaining a safe, well-organized work environment to protect both workers and the traveling public. Traffic Control Maintainers install and maintain traffic control devices such as barricades, signage, variable message boards, arrow boards, and safety barriers to guide motorists safely through or around construction areas. TCMs must remain continuously aware of ongoing construction activities and surrounding traffic conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards and effective traffic flow.
