Event Coordinator
Hanson is looking for an organized and driven individual to coordinate our promotional events nationwide. This is a full-time position in our Springfield, Illinois, office. You will be responsible for every aspect of these events, from choosing venues to evaluating success afterward.
As the event coordinator, you should be well-organized and possess a sound knowledge of vendor management. Excellent communication and attention to detail are vital in this role, as Hanson attends approximately 60 events per year, and our success depends on meeting our markets' tailored requirements.
Events include tradeshows, conferences, client events and client satisfaction surveys.
Position Profile
This position requires management of a variety of conferences, client events and client satisfaction surveys. This includes all facets of conferences (planning, production, logistics, promotional items and some post-show analysis) and organization of accounting data used for client surveys.
A Day in Life of a Event Coordinator at Hanson
Our event coordinator will conduct meetings with individuals and groups regarding a variety of events and levels of participation. Responsibilities will include researching options, communicating with the appropriate teams and gaining consensus. Once these steps have been completed, the event coordinator will turn their attention to the logistics required to make all the pieces come together. This includes working with event houses, drayage companies and vendors.
Once the event is complete, the event coordinator will assist with analyzing the results and help attendees enter any new contacts into our customer relationship management platform.
Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
Research to gain deep understanding of different requirements and details of each event
Work with conference vendors to procure rentals and drayage and track expenses
Coordinate event display materials and shipping through third-party providers
Attend some events and interact with customers to educate them on the brands we represent
Foster post-show follow up processes
Evaluate and present event results to our markets
In-depth knowledge of MS Office products
If qualified: Teach and train event staff

Our Roadway Engineering discipline is made up of Civil Engineers who plan, design, and prepare construction documents for rural and urban roadways, freeways, and interstates for local, state, and private clients. Aspects of design include vertical and horizontal alignments, geometric design, intersections and interchanges, roadside safety, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, pavement marking and signage, utility coordination, erosion control, and construction staging. Software including MicroStation with OpenRoads/Geopak or AutoCAD with Civil3D are often used for this work, which may include 3D modeling of the existing and proposed improvements.
Here are some examples of exciting Roadway Engineering projects our interns have worked on:
County Highway Project.
Assist with sheet edits using MicroStation or AutoCAD, calculate quantities of various pay items to be used by contractor to bid the project, attend project meetings, and learn to write meeting minutes, and review work by others. Provide project site visits during construction to monitor contractor's work.
Task Order Projects from large Transportation Agency (DOT or Turnpike)
. Projects may include design improvements for sidewalks and curb ramps to meet ADA requirements, intersection improvements such as adding a turn lane, evaluating roadsides for roadside hazards and how to address such hazards, toll plaza repairs, pavement patching, developing traffic control for bridge improvements, working closely with traffic and electrical engineers for roadway ITS installations, and developing new roads/highways. An intern may use programs such as MicroStation or AutoCAD, Excel, and MS Word. Like other projects, there may a need to calculate quantities of various pay items to be used by contractor to bid the project, attend project meetings, learn to write meeting minutes, and review work by others.
Specific Projects from various transportation agency (municipal, local, DOT or Turnpike)
. Assist with project pursuit by performing a site visit to help an experienced engineer better understand the project. Collect data and photos. Prepare design alternatives and analyze provided data to produce impressive graphics for use in proposals. Each project will have different improvements if we are selected, but typical assignments for an intern may include working in CAD and a coordinate geometry package (COGO) to develop sheets and design layouts.
General Assignments: Interns will perform routine roadway engineering tasks using standard procedures under supervision of Registered Professional Engineers and may assist Hanson engineers, designers and technicians in disciplines related to their field of study.
Interns will typically support one or more experienced Professional Engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of roadway engineering. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the Hanson community and with fellow interns. Internships may require travel to suppliers, customers, or other Hanson locations. Interns will also be required to work a 40 hour work week.
Key Responsibilities: Roadway Engineering interns will be expected to perform the following key responsibilities with assistance from a Hanson Professional Engineer:
Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering or environmental reports and studies.
Performing and/or reviewing calculations or reports such as those related to geometrics, transportation engineering, and quantities.
Utilize engineering software packages such as MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCad/Civil3D
Conducting field investigations and/or survey assistance to gather information.
Documenting and/or observing construction operations.
Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; maintaining records; and attending meetings.
Qualifications:
Intern must be actively enrolled in a Civil Engineering. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university.

**Pay Range:**

Job Description
AECOM has an immediate opening for an entry level Geologist in our Chicago or Lisle, Illinois office to assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data in both the field and office settings. The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. The office activities will involve preparation of investigation reports.
This position is expected to begin in Early December 2025.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
* Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, surface water, groundwater, and remediation system data; soil logging; and fluid level gauging.
* Oversight of contractors conducting field surveys, drilling, well installation, development operations, and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
* Participation in a health and safety team performing inspections, observations, and training.

The Studio Lead is responsible for execution, planning, directing, and coordinating the operations and business development of a Studio within a Vertical or Service group. Your Key Responsibilities

Identify, maintain, and make corrections to all staffing within the Studio as required to achieve business plan, effectively deliver projects, maintain client relationships, develop new business, and positions the Studio to accomplish and achieve long term goals. Assign staff to projects with experience commensurate with project complexity.
Review and monitor project level financial performance on a constant basis using financial data to improve profitability. Prepare and oversee project operational budgets. Plan effective strategies for the successful execution of projects to ensure financial well-being of the project.
Coordinate and monitor the work of staff. Monitor performance and implement improvements. Ensure quality of product in accordance with standards. Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Provide technical support where necessary.

Ensure PMs adhere to all policies and procedures set in place.
Monitor, manage, and improve the efficiency of the 5X and support services such as Technology, Energy + Eco, Commissioning, and Finance.
Work collaboratively with the client executives to coordinate, discuss, implement, and manage operational plans. Assist the Operations Director or Practice Leader in the development of strategic plans for operational activity.
Participate in resource planning meetings and coordinate with other Studio Leaders and the Operations Director or Practice Leader for the sharing of manpower resources when necessary.

**Job Description**
**AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our team in Chicago, supporting exciting projects that improve community infrastructure.** The qualified applicant will have experience in water/wastewater engineering and construction management principles, and will be familiar with the design, construction, and operation of municipal water and/or wastewater treatment and conveyance infrastructure.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Technical design of projects associated with municipal water / wastewater / drainage infrastructure improvements.
+ Providing specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
+ Participating in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
+ Developing construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
+ Performing quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
+ Preparing technical specification sections.
+ Providing input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
+ Providing guidance and mentoring to entry-level engineers.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ EIT with plans to pursue a PE
+ 4+ years of relevant water infrastructure design experience
+ Previous experience with AutoCAD.
+ Strong working knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a team environment

**Job Description**
**AECOM** has an immediate opening for an entry level **Geologist** in our **Chicago or Lisle, Illinois** office to assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data in both the field and office settings. The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. The office activities will involve preparation of investigation reports.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, surface water, groundwater, and remediation system data; soil logging; and fluid level gauging.
+ Oversight of contractors conducting field surveys, drilling, well installation, development operations, and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
+ Participation in a health and safety team performing inspections, observations, and training.
+ Field document preparation, field data collection, processing, and interpretation.
+ Supporting office tasks, including data entry, data analysis, report preparation, and maintenance of a records archive system.
+ Collect and record data and compare results to relevant studies and state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
+ Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

A Day in the Life of a Structural Engineer at Hanson
Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
Perform complex engineering calculations and utilize structural design software for analysis and design
Collaborate with other team members to efficiently complete building and facilities projects
Conduct and review structural analysis and design, including calculations, specifications, details, and construction plans
