Based in Los Angeles, California, Happiest Baby, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Doctor Harvey Karp with his wife and business partner, Nina Montée-Karp.
The Snoo is an offshoot of Doctor Karp’s 2002 bestseller The Happiest Baby on the Block, which sold more than a million copies.
In 2014, Karp unveiled the Snoo bassinets by raising $2.5 million from friends and family.
Released in 2016, SNOO is the result of a collaboration between Doctor Karp, award-winning industrial designer Yves Béhar (founder of SF-based, Fuseproject) and Doctor Deb Roy (Director, MIT Media Lab's Laboratory for Social Machines).
Aware of the Snoo’s steep price tag, Karp launched a rental program in 2018 as well as new partnerships with government organizations, corporations and insurance companies to subsidize the costs of a Snoo for new parents.
