Associate Engineer positions typically last for twelve weeks, and are salaried roles designed for students who have already received a bachelor's degree (or who will have done so before working at Astranis).
As an Associate Engineer, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems - we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, and our Associate Engineers work on projects that are of equal importance and difficulty to the projects we give our full-time employees. Role:This posting covers working with the payload, avionics, and power systems teams at AstranisWork on a hardware engineering team to build and test flight hardware Design test equipment to validate designs across a wide range of stressed conditions Bringup and debug designs in the lab Write code to help evaluate performance and automate testing of satellite hardware Coordinate assembly, integration and environmental test efforts
Requirements:Have a four-year degree in electrical or computer engineering (or equivalent technical degree) A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch US Citizenship or Green Card40 hours per week minimum Must be onsite in San Francisco 3 days a week minimum Don't meet them all? Summary/ Objective
Hardware Department Associates manufacture, assemble, move, and package hinges, cables, bolts and other assemblies/parts used in the production, assembly, installation or utilization of C.H.I. overhead garage doors. This could include the production/manufacturing or movement of hardware or other support components.
Essential Functions
- Reads production lists and performs work as assigned by department supervisor or foreman.
- Lifts, measures, cuts, cleans, clips, drills, and presses, rivets, drills, assembles or otherwise manufactures the hardware/materials used to assemble/install overhead garage doors and/or assemblies.
- Attach appropriate labels and tags to products and packages.
- Uses industrial machinery, hand tools, power tools, saws, carts, presses, forklifts, carts, and other industrial equipment/machinery in the fabrication and movement of garage door hardware or related products.
- Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
- Place finished and packaged goods in the proper area for shipment
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Other reasonably related duties as assigned.
Work Environment
While performing duties in a production role, employees are routinely exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, equipment and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. –
- Standing: up to 12 hrs.
- Use of both hands, arms and shoulders (full range of motion)
- Walking for extended periods of time
- Using hand tools, power tools, presses, saws, forklifts, industrial equipment and all other equipment related to production of garage door hardware and assemblies
- Lifting up to 35+ lbs. repeatedly and up to 50+lbs occasionally throughout a possible 12 hour shift
- Required to talk, hear, read and write
- Able to accurately use and read parts lists or orders and apply that information to product packaging
- Use of hands to finger, handle or feel (full dexterity)
- Able to work safely and competently industrial equipment, presses, forklifts, hand/power tools and all related equipment.
- Able to perform all requirements at a fast rate of speed in order to keep up with the production line’s needs
