Hardware engineer job description

The primary responsibility of the Hardware Engineer is to connect, secure, test, and maintain hardware devices in a large and complex studio gaming infrastructure.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.'s policies, practices, and procedures. All Las Vegas Sands Corp. Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company's standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Research hardware devices that best fit gaming needs and propose solutions. Partner with information technology to design appropriate infrastructure. Connect and maintain hardware in the gaming environment. Work with development and security teams to build and maintain a secure environment. Work in a large collaborative team to build an infrastructure that supports a best-in-class gaming product. Write microservices to gather and monitor hardware data. Perform job duties in a safe manner. Attend work as scheduled on a consistent and regular basis. Perform other related duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications


Experience building and maintaining complex hardware infrastructure, preferably in the gaming or live studio industries. Strong network communication skills. Understanding of single board Linux computers. Experience with microcontroller control of lights and motors in a studio environment preferred. Experience with 3D printing and designing printed circuit boards preferred. At least 21 years of age. Proof of authorization to work in the United States. High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in spoken and written form.

The Unstructured Storage division is the leader of scale-out object and file solutions including PowerScale, ObjectScale and Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) products. The hardware platform architecture team monitors and influences industry technology trends, partners with product management to identify and prioritize product requirements and works with cross-functional engineering teams to align platform designs to maximize each product’s strengths. The team manages development, qualification and support of the hardware to ensure we deliver the highest quality and best experience to our customers.
Role Responsibilities
Supports the hardware architecture team to deliver a complex storage appliance with the highest quality and best in class features. Works cross-functionally to track, manage and close design issues for both new product introductions (NPI) and in-market (IM) activities. Performs lab operations to support performance testing, customer failure replication, network configuration and hardware component qualification. Performs qualifications on hardware components (Drives, DIMMs, cables, switches, etc.), BIOS, firmware, drivers and OS. Works cross-functionally to determine hardware needs of engineering teams, tracks orders and budgets. Explores new technology roadmaps to gain better understanding of industry trends and applies them to Unstructured Storage platform architectures. The Technical Exploitation Intelligence Support team is critical in supporting DoD, Federal, and IC partners' Global War on Terrorism efforts by providing state of the art technical exploitation and collection capabilities in digital media exploitation triage and automation, advanced technical Media Exploitation (MEDEX), and advanced Mobile Device Exploitation. Activities include digital forensics activities, software reverse engineering, hardware exploitation, parser development, reverse engineering, mobile applications development and engineering, and technical exploitation. The Hardware Exploitation Engineer provides Hardware Exploitation Support. This position is located in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities:

+ Conduct technical exploitation and examination of High Priority Digital Media to include:

+ Conduct reverse engineering, failure analysis, and vulnerability analysis of hardware to identify exploitation opportunities

+ Modify hardware to either enable forensic analysis of the media or to change the functionality of the hardware for other purposes

+ Perform inspection, imaging, decapsulation, deprocessing, and other activities related to hardware reverse engineering and exploitation.

+ Development and maintain frameworks, processes, design patterns, techniques, tools, and standards for conducting hardware exploitation of digital media.

**Qualifications**

+ TS/SCI is required. A CI Poly is preferred or be willing and able to obtain a CI Poly.

+ Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and at least nine (9) years of related experience.

+ Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering may be substituted for three (3) years of required experience.

+ A PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering may be substituted for four (4) years of required experience.
