Position Summary

As Sales Associate, your primary responsibilities are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, and support the store management team.

Major Responsibilities

The major responsibilities for this position include:

Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards

Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.

Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management

Assist in the training and development of peers

Actively participate in daily huddle meetings

Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards

Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized

Responsive of safety issues

Conscious of shoplifting activity

Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on acehardware.com, as well as, processing special orders

Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card

Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies

Minimum Requirements

The minimum requirements for this position include:

Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred.

Possess a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn. Experience: Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers

Previous experience in a retail environment either in marketing, sales, or back office.

Skills/Knowledge:

Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.

A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction

Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills

Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask

Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.

Ability to stand for an extended period of time

Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth. Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.

Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store. • Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates. • Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively. • Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management. • Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products. • Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time. Store Operations • Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment. • Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store. • Assist with maintaining back stock levels. • Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area. • Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise. • Assist with merchandise resets through the store. • Provide assistance to Department Specialists, i.e. price changes, special orders. • Ensure signage is current throughout the store. • Operate forklift with proper training. • Communicate any Store Support Center issue to General Manager for follow up. • Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to Store Manager or Owner. • Be professional in appearance and actions. • Perform all other duties as assigned. Other Essential Requirements May be required to assist customers with propane refills-training to be provided. Education/Training High School or GED equivalent/or previous retail and or customer service experience. Prefer experience in any trades field such as construction, landscape, electrical, etc. Experience Retail experience preferred. Physical Demands Standing, walking, lifting (up to 80lbs) and climbing.

The Sales Associate position requires both cashier knowledge and extensive product knowledge as you will be assisting customers to respective product locations and will need to be able to assist in completing the customer's project's shopping list. The Sales Associate will be consistently walking customers to the correct aisles and further assisting in any additional questions the customers might have on their product needs.

What You Will Do

All Lowe's associates deliver quality customer service while maintaining a store that is clean, safe, and stocked with the products customers need. As a Customer Service Associate, this means:

* Being friendly and professional, welcoming customers to Lowe's and helping with home improvement project needs.
* Validating loading tickets and processing orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and in a timely manner.
* Engaging in safe work practices and encouraging others to do the same.

The Customer Service Associate is responsible for customers' experience with Lowe's. This associate plays a critical role in helping our customers select the right products, ensuring quotes are accurate, verifying correct price labels, and confirming that all customer needs are met. In addition, this associate delivers excellent customer service by listening to customers, using expertise to help customers, and loading merchandise for customers. This associate must always remain vigilant and report any safety or security concerns around the entrance of the store.

The Customer Service Associate responsibilities vary dependent on the department he/she supports. Customer Service Associates work in one of the following areas: Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Millwork, Fashion Plumbing, Outlet, Tool Rental, Pro, or Windows & Walls. Individuals applying for a role as a Customer Service Associate may be considered for any one of these areas, depending on hiring needs and skillset.

Travel Requirements: This role does not require regular travel; however, this role may need to travel on occasion to meetings, trainings, or to support neighboring stores.

What We're Looking For

* Hourly Full Time or Part Time: Generally scheduled 39 to 40 or up to 25 hours per week, respectively; more hours may be required based on the needs of the store.
* Requires morning, afternoon and evening availability any day of the week.
* Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties.
* CSAs assigned to the Greeter departments (available in select stores) minimally must be able to lift 10 pounds without assistance; may lift over 10 pounds with or without assistance.
* CSAs assigned to all other departments (excluding Greeter departments) minimally must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance; may lift over 25 pounds with or without assistance.

What You Need To Succeed

Minimum Qualifications

* 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
* 6 months experience using common retail technology, such as smart phones and tablets.
* Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law.

Preferred Qualifications

* 6 months of sales experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs, including credit cards, installations, add-on sales, and explaining warranties, product features, and benefits.
* 6 months of retail experience providing customer service, including identifying and resolving customer issues, assisting customers in locating product, greeting customers, answering phones, building relationships with customers, and thanking customers for their business.
* Bi-lingual skills, if applicable to the store.
* Certification in trade related to department (e.g., hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, and lumber/building materials).
