Monitor the condition and maintain CLA coastal and inland barges. Maintain the vessel's engine room and equipment in a state of readiness to perform work for customers as needed. Perform start up and shut down, troubleshooting, and heavy maintenance of vessel power and propulsion systems. Job includes pulling heavy lines and hoses, working on oil and cargo barges, general vessel maintenance, and other tasks that may be assigned from time to time. Perform work as requested by Captain. Responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of petroleum products between barges, ships, and facilities including completion of bills of lading and gauge reports. Responsibilities * Create load/discharge plans for trim, stability, and safe cargo operations. * Monitor product level in tanks while topping off tanks, stripping cargo tanks, and using drip samplers. * Operate mooring winches, anchor winches, diesel engines, cargo pumps, tank/pipeline valves, cargo tank heater/boilers, IG Systems, manual and hydraulic booms/cranes, hand tools, and gas meters. * Use and care of manual, hermetic, and MMC tapes for proper gauging. * Hydrostatic testing of cargo hoses and piping. * Ability to understand piping diagrams and proper valve alignment for cargo segregations, as well as loading manuals & vapor calculation manuals. * Accurately fill out Bill of Ladings, Barge Logs, DOI's, BDN's, and all other job related paperwork. * Perform routine maintenance (oil changes/greasing/chipping/painting/etc.), and maintain cleanliness aboard the barges. * Continually inspect vessel for Coast Guard and state regulatory compliance. * Effectively communicate with foreign crews and oil facility personnel. * Ability to think and respond quickly in emergency situations. * Use of emergency equipment such as lifesaving, damage control, and safety equipment. * Occasional use of air purifying respirator, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and air monitoring equipment for hazardous cargos. * Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, maneuver cargo hoses, handle barge lines and Yokohama fenders. * Able to climb onto barges and up and down ladders and must not be afraid of heights. * Able to handle exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.). * May be required to work different equipment and in different regions. * Ability to work well under stress. * Perform other duties as assigned by Master, Mate, or Direct Supervisors. The Barge Operations Supervisor will be responsible for all Tankerman activities, training, transfer inspections, audits, evaluations, and assignments. Responsibilities Supervise all regional crewed Tankerman activities during transfer operations and provide continuous on the job training. Routinely conduct transfer inspections and audits of all regional barge operations. Conduct initial tankerman skills review and yearly performance evaluations. Responsible for the hiring process of new tankermen. Directly supervise complicated or sensitive transfer operations at the direction of the Director of USEC Operation and/or Sr. Port Captain. Assist with annual ABS, USCG and Sire inspections. Coordinate and present at scheduled crew meetings and training sessions. Work closely with companywide team members to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Participate in the development of new programs, policies, and procedures to enhance quality of operation. Submit weekly operational reports to the Director of USEC Operation. Cover barge scheduling as needed. Conduct transfer operations if required. Work closely with shore side maintenance to ensure barges are properly maintained. Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager, Company Regional Director, or Manager of Barge Operations. Qualifications At least 10 years of tank barge experience with a minimum of 5 years in the ship bunkering service and terminal to terminal moves. A USCG Issued MMC with an endorsement of Barge DL PIC. Must have a good working knowledge of all State and Federal regulatory compliance regarding the transfer and carriage of petroleum products over water. Be able to provide leadership and direction to AB/PIC. Must possess a high degree of management communications oral and written. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Be able to maintain direction and composure under extreme conditions and meet established goals and objectives. Must be a self-motivator and be able to motivate others. Must be able to communicate effectively and direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion. Must be able to train assigned workers and fairly evaluate subordinates. Coordinate with Port Engineers to assist with scheduling, and performing vessel repair & maintenance on tugs and barges. Work with Port Engineers and Purchasing for approval on purchasing of parts, repair services and supplies. Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures and report findings to Port Engineers. Assist with keeping tugs and barges in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Assist with keeping accurate records of all maintenance performed using company software program. Looking for inland, coastal, licensed and unlicensed engineering positions. Maintain the vessel's engine room and equipment in a state of readiness to perform work for customers as needed. Perform start up and shut down, troubleshooting, and heavy maintenance of vessel power and propulsion systems. This job includes pulling heavy lines and hoses, working on oil and cargo barges, general vessel maintenance, and other tasks that may be assigned from time to time. Acts as second in command of the tug and barge. Must be able to understand and carry out the orders and directions of the Captain. Must be prepared to assume command in the event of incapacity of the Captain. Responsible for safely making and breaking tow with barges, handling lines and wires. As Tankerman Supervisor you will be responsible for manned and un-manned tankerman activities, training, transfer inspections, audits, evaluations and assignments from the Director of USEC Operations and CLA Barge Operations Supervisor. Responsibilities * Day to day supervision of all CLA manned and un-manned Tankerman activities during transfer operations and provide continuous on the job training at the direction of Director of USEC Operations and Barge Operations Supervisor. * Routinely conducting transfer inspections and audits of all CLA barge operations and Tankermen. * Conduct initial tankerman skills review and yearly performance evaluations, and be a lead in the hiring process of potential new tankerman. * Directly supervise complicated or sensitive transfer operations at the direction of the Barge Operations Supervisor and Director of USEC Operations * Be able to work closely with CLA team members to ensure a safe, efficient and reliable operation. * Participate in the development of new programs, policies, and procedures to enhance the quality of our operation. * Submit weekly operational reports to the Barge Operations Supervisor. * Cover extra barge work at the direction of the Barge Operations Supervisor. * Other duties as assigned by the Director of USEC Operations.
