Captain job at Centerline Logistics
Responsible for the safe transportation of the assigned barge(s) and for the safety of the cargo, vessel(s) and crew. Responsible for safe docking of ships, (when applicable). Required to perform administrative and supervisory functions. Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of tug and barge.
Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Oversees safety of vessel
* Stands wheelhouse watches underway.
* Direct crew in performance of drills.
* Determine the need for and assign lookouts as necessary.
* Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Company policies and regulations.
* Prepare, monitor, and update vessel work lists and maintenance schedules.
* Ensure all crewmen are performing their duties.
* Prepare written reports per company and regulatory agency directives.
* Check and approve all requisitions and work orders.
* Ensure supplies are used on an efficient manner, inventory and prepare material requisitions
* Conduct inspections and monitor tug/barge maintenance activities.
* Assign work projects for crew.
* Inspect cleanliness of the vessel and barge.
* Purchase food for crew.
* Work aboard boats and barges using pike poles, heavy lines, winches, mechanical tools for repairs as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Must be able to read, speak and understand English over radiotelephone and/or radio.
* Must be able to communicate in English and effectively direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion.
* Valid TWIC
* Must have a valid first aid certificate.
* Must have valid CPR training.
* Must have a valid HAZWOPER certificate or complete a 24 hour training course within 30days from date of hire.
* Must have valid GMDSS operator endorsement.
* Must be able to direct, fairly evaluate, and correct performance of subordinates.
* Must have valid states driver's license.
* Valid radio operator's license.
* Must be able to understand and use information in cargo information cards and material safety data sheets.
* Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.
REGIONAL SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
* Valid Coast Guard license, minimum Master 200 GT near Coastal, with a radar observer endorsement.
* Valid Master of Towing near Coastal endorsement.
* Five (5) years of experience towing barges as Master, Coastwise on the US East Coast, Gulf of Mexico.
Job Condition and Environment
* Ability to get along with crew members in confined quarters for prolonged periods of time
* Must be able to perform the functions set forth in the attached job analysis and physically fit enough to pull heavy lines/hoses, lift, carry heavy items, climb onto barges and up and down ladders, and bending and twisting during boat/barge tie up.
* Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)
* Must not be afraid of heights.

* Willing to take call outs.

The Captain holds ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft. Captains must adhere to all federal, state, local, and international regulations, along with the policies and procedures outlined in the company operations manual. Captains serve as the company's primary representative to the passengers and must conduct themselves with tact and decorum while maintaining an efficient and safe operation.
Job Responsibilities
The duties of a Captain include:
Acting as pilot in command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled
Providing excellent customer service to passengers
Following schedules and other directives governing the aircraft's operation
Ensuring that preflight inspections are performed
Studying weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports, and departure points
Preparing flight plans
Ensuring that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers
Reviewing and calculating the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance charts
Managing the SIC (second in command) in all responsibilities needed to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the aircraft
Coordinating the functioning of all crewmembers assigned to the flight
Managing and communicating with crew, and other team members, while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and CRM, in alignment with the BD Way
Ensuring that aircraft operations are in accordance with BD Aviation Flight Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures, including strict adherence to checklists by all crew members
Participating in the Safety Management System by crafting a flight risk analysis for all flight segments. Filing safety reports as needed and helping maintain a positive safety culture.
Monitoring crew performance, sharing knowledge with crewmembers, and evaluating crewmember potential for advancement
Making decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate
Required Skills:
Flight training received through an FAA-approved school or training program
Two (2) years of recent background as a pilot in Corporate Aviation
FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating with appropriate aircraft and type ratings
FAA 1st class medical certificate
FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
Position is based out of Morristown, NJ, and the ideal candidate should be within approximately 1.5 hour driving distance of the base

**Position Summary**
The pilot in command reports to the lead captain regarding company operating policies and procedures. **Main Responsibilities**
+ Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on weather or other conditions
+ Ensure that the flight is conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations and policies and procedures
+ Institute all necessary changes as required by en route conditions such that the flight may continue under appropriate company policies, procedures and rules
+ Responsible for conducting the flight in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with industry and company standards
+ Accurate completion of all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures
+ Responsible for ensuring a thorough and complete understanding with the second in command regarding all aspects of flight
+ Record all aircraft discrepancies as they occur on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report these discrepancies to the director of maintenance or their designee as soon as possible. Refer to the approved MEL and as directed by the DOM or his designee determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or needs to be repaired and completes the aircraft discrepancy log as required
+ Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and that they are mentally and physically fit for duty
+ Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems which they are authorized to operate to include all emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft
+ Secure the aircraft after each flight to include arranging hangar storage if they deem necessary or they are instructed to do so by the company management
+ Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts and NOTAMS from a FAA flight service station or other authorized agency
+ File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility
+ Analyze area, enroute and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates
+ Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator {ISC) under the provision of the twelve five standard security program or private charter standard security program as applicable
+ Conduct the required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the second in command
+ Impart knowledge and skills to the second in command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the second in command upgrades to pilot in command in that aircraft
+ Complete and send the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure
+ Complete and send the End of DAY {EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day
+ Responsible for taking an active role supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns
+ Responsible for making an immediate report in any hazardous action, conduct or event to the chief pilot and director of safety
+ The pilot in command may delegate these duties but not the responsibility for those duties
+ Other duties may be required, as needed
+ Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies and the General Dynamics network.

Plan flights as assigned and obtains information regarding purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures and special instruction.

McAllister Towing of NY is seeking highly qualified Captains. Duties and Responsibilities are outlined below.
Captain: Reports to:
The Captain reports to the General Manager or his/her designated representative.
Supervises:
The Captain is required to supervise all crewmembers of the vessel to which he/she is assigned.
Description of Duties:
Master of a tug or towing vessel.
Vessel Security Officer (VSO) in charge of implementing and maintaining the AWO Alternative Security Program.
Responsible to safely and efficiently operate and manage (performance of crew, vessel, and tow).
Serve as Officer in Charge of the Navigation Watch.
Assess and maintain vessel seaworthiness.
Ensure the availability and serviceability of required lifesaving equipment.
Verify the serviceability of all installed fire detection and firefighting systems and equipment.
Require accommodations to be maintained in safe, clean condition at all times.
Provide clear direction to subordinates.
Prepare periodic performance evaluations for subordinates.
Maintain vessel and crew readiness for emergency responses.
Conduct and report the results of periodic vessel audits and inspections.
Operate and maintain the assigned vessel in accordance with the quality, safety, security and environmental protection policies and procedures in the Vessel Operations Manual.
Organize and conduct required training, drills and exercises.
Complete, submit and maintain required records, logs and reports.
Ensure adequate vessel manning and watches.
Project a positive company image and maintain professional, amicable relationships with customers, pilots, terminal personnel and the public at all times.
Other duties as may be assigned by the General Manager or his/her designated representative.

Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's Credential

Physical Requirements: The unpredictable, ever-changing and inherently dangerous nature of tug and towing operations require the Captain to be physically qualified to ensure his/her own safety, as well as that of the vessel and crew. Specific physical requirements include:
Adequate vision (i.e., absent any color blindness or impairment that cannot be corrected with prescription lenses).
Adequate hearing. Capable of walking and standing on wet surfaces for extended periods of time.
Able to handle heavy lines and operate heavy machinery.
Ability to climb a 12-foot ladder without assistance.
Ability to hoist oneself up and over a 12-inch wide, 6-foot-high barrier.
Sufficient strength to:
Lift 100 lbs. from deck to waist level.
Lift 50 lbs. from deck to shoulder level.
Lift 35 lbs. from deck to overhead; and
Pull (drag) 120 lbs. at least 20 feet.

Qualifications
* Five (5) years at sea as Master on tugboats, tankers or oil barges or equivalent military experience
* Four year college education in Maritime or related studies or equivalent experience preferred.
* Valid US Coast Guard Master's license on offshore towboats 200T Minimum/Master of Towing Endorsement required.
* ATB Operational experience strongly preferred.
* 500T Minimum Master of Towing preferred.
* Extensive knowledge of the tugboat and oil transportation industry.
* Must be thoroughly familiar with tank barge, ship and terminal/refinery operations.
* Knowledge of tug and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
* Complete a 24 hour HAZWOPER (including Incident Command System) training within 6 months of being hired.
* First Aid/CPR training.
* STCW Certification.
* Valid State Driver's license.
* Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crew members.
* Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
* Able and willing to travel to the out ports.
* Ability to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
* Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.

Job Condition and Environment
* Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.

Expected Hours of Work
* Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
* Take communications 24 hours a day, including weekends concerning changes in schedules and conditions.
