Our newly started Center of Nanotechnology Research and Education (CNRE) is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to assist in multiple center activities. CNRE provides opportunities to work in exciting and high impact research fields such as nanoscale electronics, spintronics, solar cells, and metamaterials. A successful candidate will be supervised by experienced and internationally renowned faculty advisors. The postdoctoral candidate may have an opportunity to work in collaboration with nearby National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and other industrial partners and will have the ability to build their network for career advancement. This position is primarily a temporary/training position in which the incumbent plays a substantive role in planning and conducting research by using quantitative and qualitative methods to collect, analyze and report data activities. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator, this role will participate in the planning of independent research, will analyze and interpret data, will publish results, will represent the university at conferences and meetings, and may develop new theories and methodologies. This position may also help the Principal Investigator to lead and direct the work of lower level research staff. This role performs work under the supervision of experienced researchers. Meeting escalating energy demand from emerging uses, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers, will require an unprecedented scale-up in low-cost and reliable energy infrastructure, especially renewable energy generation, transmission, and energy storage. Minimizing the cost of maintaining a reliable balance between electricity supply and demand is critical to integrating renewable energy generation at scale. Meanwhile, the rapidly changing climate and extreme events are increasing the complexity of ensuring reliability in energy systems. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal depending on satisfactory performance and continued funding. 11/17/2025 POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to join a team to conduct research in support of the newly awarded Army Research Office sponsored Program to develop an Equation of State and Constitutive Thermodynamic and Transport Relations of 3He, 4Heand 3He-4He mixture; and systematically develop equations of state and thermodynamic constitutive relations for the heliums (3He and 4He) and their mixtures over a temperature range from 10 mK to 300 K and a pressure range of 0 to 30 bar (where these substances are fluid). The project will also have a parallel effort to measure, catalog and characterize the transport properties of the heliums over the same pressure and temperature range. The successful candidates will work in the Cryogenics group at the PSFC. Two post-docs will focus on the Thermodynamic task, and two on the Transport task.
