The Mill Operations Manager will be responsible for supervising the mill operations on 1st shift. This position will work closely with the management team and report to the Location Manager.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Influence and support execution of mill maintenance as developed by the Millwright Manager.
Assure all daily documentation and required process information is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Contact the appropriate department manager with problems/concerns; call in additional team members if needed.
Maintain and operate all processes associated with the mill including grain receiving, ingredient receiving and batching. Report any operational/mechanical problems to the Location Manager.
Develop an understanding of repair and maintenance of mill equipment and ensure documentation of all maintenance activities.
Strive for maximum efficiency in mill operations, trouble shoot and work with all departments to correct process problems.
Learn and operate Beta Raven (computer control PLC system) and other processes associated with mill operations.
Train personnel for procedure changes and mill modifications.
Respond to collected data and utilize to optimize mill operation. Do quality control tests on product streams and make necessary adjustments.
Perform and/or supervise the cleaning of all equipment associated with mill processes.
Perform and/or supervise preventative maintenance tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
Operate all utility equipment, as necessary. Monitor safe equipment operations on a regular basis and verify proper inspection forms are filled out prior to use of equipment.
Assure all products manufactured meet established specifications.
Assure compliance with all company, State and Federal regulatory agencies policies and rules; assist in implementing approved changes.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate effective communication during shift exchange to ensure safe, efficient and continuous mill operation.
Effectively manage your team by partnering with mill leadership to recruit, select, orient and train team members. Leadership responsibilities also include delegation, coaching and performance management and career development to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives.
Safety and Compliance - Contributes to a culture that ensures all equipment and personnel adhere to all federal and state safety and compliance regulations.
Oversee employee timecards & PTO approval.
Work with Location Manager to handle all disciplinary actions for mill employees.

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
Know the basics of Microsoft Office. Capable of learning new programs.

Maintains positive employee relations, including participating in evaluation and training of hourly personnel
Tracks employees' work performance and attendance to ensure performance metrics are met, including resolving issues in a timely manner
Utilizes metrics/data to evaluate and improve work processes, as well as maintain line related system and regulatory documentation
Collaborate with other supervisors and cross-functional teams to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
Plans and establishes work schedules
What you bring to the table
4 year degree in a related, business or technical field such as food science, operations management, or engineering OR equivalent experience
2-5 years of experience in a production, operations management or supervision role, preferably in the food processing industry
In some cases, education and experience may be substituted for the degree.
Bilingual - Spanish and English is preferred.
