Hatfield Meats company history timeline
The company began in 1895, when John C. Clemens started Pleasant Valley Packing Co. in nearby Mainland.
Two of his sons, who had bought the company in 1941, acquired local company Hatfield Packing Co., and combined the two businesses.
The company has had a profit-sharing program since 1951, and last month distributed $5 million, or one-third of profits, to employees.
Larry Stevens, a Hatfield Borough resident for 55 years, is President of the Hatfield Museum & History Society which he founded in 1991.
In August 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, the Hatfield History Museum opened, bringing to fruition the 30 year dream of the Hatfield Museum and History Society to have a building where it can tell Hatfield’s history and make its collection readily accessible to the public.
