Summary: Provide an excellent customer care experience to our Patients. Your presence and greetings are the first impressions Patients have of Bone & Joint. They must be good ones. Hours vary between 7am-6pm. This position is working primarily out of our Rib Mtn location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Greet and check in Patients, obtaining all necessary information, signed forms and other information, documents, records and/or films. Making sure all patient information is accurate and all fields are completed in the EMR system.
* Make appointments for Patients, obtaining and providing all required information. Making sure all patient information is accurate in the EMR system.
* Enter accurate insurance information and follow company policies in order to track the physical therapy appointments.
* Work with the physical therapist to complete cost estimates for self-pay or non-covered services for patients.
* Round on Patients in the waiting room.
* Answering the telephones.
* Collect all applicable copays and other required amounts.
* Address other Patient needs, or get the proper person to do so. This includes staying past your scheduled hours on a regular basis to ensure that a Registration Staff is present as long as there is a Patient and/or Patient family member at the clinic.
* Work closely with referring Physicians and their Staffs to bring in referral Patients efficiently and accurately, obtaining all necessary records, films or other documentation, so that it arrives in advance of the Patient's appointment.
* Participate in rotations to cover evening and/or Saturday clinics as assigned and requested changes from time to time as needed.
* Protect and account for the cash kept in the Registration area received from, and to make change for Patients.
* Coordinate with interpreter services for our non-English-speaking Patients and other language barriers via Interpreting services.
* Care for the appearance of the Patient waiting areas; keep them tidy throughout the day.
* Open and close the Registration area according to procedures.
* Help stock and complete inventory for DME supplies.
* Help complete prior authorizations for therapy patients.
* Follow all policies and procedures of the organization and department.
* Contribute to improving processes, procedures and the Patient experience at Bone & Joint.
* Some traveling between the Bone and Joint locations for coverage as applicable.
* Handle other projects as assigned.
Education/Experience: High School graduate or equivalent.
Qualifications: Experience in medical registration preferred. Classes, knowledge and/or experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Excellent communications skills required. Patience and ability to work with people at all levels, internal and external, required. Experience or ability to handle cash, receive and account for Patient payments. Compassion for Patients required. Ability to help Patients or to get medical help for Patients in an emergency required.
