Haul truck driver job description

Kodiak Freight heavy haul division is looking for experienced professional drivers to join our growing company. We are dedicated to serving our customers at the highest level and provide transportation services to the construction, mining, material handling, agricultural industries, and many other oversize / overweight customers. Drivers will enjoy newer reliable equipment, great pay, home time, and other benefits. This position is responsible for safely transporting standard stepdeck/RGN loads and oversized/overweight permitted loads. Critical for success are the abilities to safely transport material and equipment, maintain a safe driving record, work/interact well with others, and work over the road including evening and weekends.

Driver is responsible for loading / unloading and the safe delivery of equipment and other types of oversize loads ensuring proper securement.

Driver is responsible for daily mechanical upkeep, safety inspections of equipment and defect reporting.

Driver must be able to use ELD and maintain full compliance of DOT hours of service rules and regulations.

Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, customers and the general public while following all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Operate vehicle in compliance with company rules and all applicable local, state and federal regulations, and in accordance with accepted principles of safe driving.
Interpret maps and/or GPS to determine proper vehicle route. Inspect vehicle and all required parts/accessories to determine safe operating conditions prior to operation. Verify load is within acceptable and legal limits. Prepare and/or review shipping documents to determine nature of load and any special hazards, and perform load securement. Maintain records of fuel purchases and mileage. Maintain proper load documentation and record in/out times. Perform emergency roadside repairs such as installing light bulbs, fuses and tire chains. Coordinate the cleanliness and maintenance of vehicles. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must have at least 3 years of class A driving experience. Must have oversize / overweight experience. Must be able to operate RGN / Lowboy, step-deck and sliding axle trailers. Preference to agricultural equipment, heavy construction, oversize Must possess a current Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a valid Federal DOT Medical Card. Must have knowledge of proper load securement chains, binders, straps etc. Must have ability to operate heavy equipment/machinery. Recent work-related hauling of oversized and overweight heavy equipment on lowboy, flatbed, or step-deck trailers is preferred. TWIC card, Doubles/Triples endorsement is preferred but must have the ability to obtain within approved time. Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a good driving record with no recent accidents or DUI. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Drives truck or automobile over various routes to deliver products or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

* Delivers products and materials to customer job sites or sites of business while adhering to all safety procedures.
* Loads and unload materials and returns undelivered material to the warehouse.
* Checks quantities of goods received and obtains customer signatures for proof of delivery.
* Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition. Driver is responsible for general care and maintenance of the vehicle
* Verifies the accuracy of all deliveries by inspecting, counting, and verifying freight for accuracy
* Maintains all safety rules and regulations, particularly the hazards encountered with driving a truck. Maintains a good driving record, professionalism, and high-quality customer service
* Understands and abides by the Federal Highway Administration Rules and Regulations for Interstate drivers where applicable. Maintains driver log according to D.O.T. regulations.
* Keeps accurate records and submits expense reports for reimbursement of expenditures as required.
* Schedules an efficient route, delivery schedule, and pick-ups of materials and packages for company

Minimum Qualifications

* Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate within Irby Inventory Operating Systems
* Knowledge of shipping and receiving practices
* Ability to effectively communicate and provide high-quality customer service
* Commercial or state issued motor vehicle drivers license required

* Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Primary Purpose**

Transport fresh/frozen poultry to storage yards, cold storage facilities, or designated customers. Must be able to follow all DOT and company requirements to ensure safe transport of product.

**Major Duties & Responsibilities**

1. Transport fresh/frozen poultry to storage yards, cold storage facilities, or designated customers.

2. Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles to maintain working operations.

3. Complete paperwork documenting delivery information, miles driven and expenses.

4. Follow all company safety policies, S.O.P regulations, as well as support Goal Zero mission statement.

**Qualifications**

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Valid Class A CDL license required with 2 years of active CDL Class A driving experience. All drivers with less than two years on the road driving experience must successfully complete the Mountaire Driver Finishing program. Drivers with no on the road experience must have obtained their CDL Class A license through an accredited program.

+ CDL Class A. Must be able to lift 75lbs. Must be able to meet all DOT requirements.
