Purpose
The Educator, under the supervision of the Program Manager, is responsible for facilitating various classes, utilizing and developing curriculum, and community engagement for The Haven. The Haven endorses a trauma-informed care approach and a medical model of SUD treatment.
Essential Functions
Utilizes and develops curriculum for psychoeducation groups.
Coordinates and participates in the planning and facilitation of internal and external member engagement activities.
Works with clinical staff to provide support, information, and suggestions on individual members' needs or concerns.
Collaborates with treatment teams and/or Program Manager to identify and complete tasks that provide program support and help members achieve treatment plan.
Evaluates initiatives and provides feedback to clinical staff and other stakeholders on progress.
Works to strengthen positive, effective relationships among members throughout Residential, Outpatient, and/or Native Ways programs.
Participates in community outreach by collaborating with community agencies to assist members with various needs.
Conducts speaking engagements and workshops on SUD-related issues as part of The Haven's community outreach strategies.
Documents all group activities in the EHR system and in compliance with The Haven's policies and procedures.
Assesses program/curriculum outcomes in a meaningful and objective manner.

Job Title: Peer Mentor Reports To: Peer Mentor and Recovery Coach Supervisor or Program Manager Type: Full-Time
I. Purpose
The Peer Mentor, under the supervision of the Peer Mentor and Recovery Coach Supervisor, Program Manager, or Native and Indigenous Service Manager uses their personal experiences to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with clients of The Haven. As someone who has successfully managed their own recovery, the Peer Mentor provides clients with an example of what they can strive for in their recovery. The Peer Mentor must be highly compassionate and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Peer Mentor must be capable of building trust and impactful relationships with clients. To aid in individuals' recovery from addiction, the Peer Mentor must promote a “Recovery with Respect” approach, emphasizing self-direction and empowerment by providing peer support, personal assistance, education on community resources, educational classes and other supportive services. The Haven endorses a trauma-informed care approach and a medical model of SUD treatment.
II. Essential Functions
• Participate with other team members and the client in the development of a person-centered treatment plan that includes recovery goals, transitional services, family/natural supports, and continued recovery in the community.
• Work with individuals in their assigned program to navigate and use community resources to seek employment and stable housing.
• Facilitate groups and classes including Peer Support, Skills Training and Pre-Job Training & Development
• Relate personal recovery process in a positive manner to collaborate with clients in seeking community resources, recovery related referrals, and ongoing support in the community.
• Work to build a community of both clients and staff that is supportive and conducive to patient growth and recovery. Assists in the creation and implementation of social activities and help create a positive environment for everyone.
• Teach independent living, social and communication skills to individuals to maximize the person's ability to live and participate in the community and function independently.
• Functions as a member of the treatment team by participating in team meetings and making contributions to discussions and treatment planning.
• Completes all clinical documentation according to The Haven's standards.
III. Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintains client files in accordance with the policy and procedures of The Haven.
• Interface with clinical team members to coordinate and advocate client services.
• Demonstrate knowledge of recovery, relapse prevention, and community resources.
• Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all staff.
• Assist with transportation to and from The Haven clinic as needed.
• Assist clinical staff in developing mediation and intervention strategies relative to performing conflict resolutions for individuals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must be certified as a Recovery Support Specialist or Peer Support Specialist.
Must possess good customer service skills.
Must have knowledge of Substance Use Treatment and Medications.
Must be Familiar with 12-step program and other related support groups.
Must possess competent computer and typing skills, including use of Microsoft Office.
Must have the ability to present ideas effectively, in both oral and written form.
Must have a valid AZ driver's license with a clean MVR.
Must have current CPR and First Aid Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Additional Qualifications for Peer Mentor in Residential Program
Must have a Non-IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card upon hire.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Additional Qualifications for Peer Mentor in Outpatient Program
A Non-IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (Preferred).
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Additional Qualifications for Peer Mentor in the Native Ways Program
At least two years personal or professional experience living or working in one of Arizona's Indigenous communities.
Demonstrates strong knowledge and awareness of relevant Indigenous culture, history and contemporary issues.
Must have a Non-IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card upon hire if working at the Residential facility.
Must be at least 21 years of age upon hire if working at the Residential; Must be at least 18 years of age upon hire if working at the Outpatient.
