POSITION SUMMARY: Performs skilled welding in the repair, modification, and fabrication of equipment and facilities; makes minor mechanical repairs on a variety of heavy equipment; and performs related duties as required. Also, must be able to perform all aspects of undercarriage work including removal and installation of tracks, rollers and idlers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Comprehends and interprets sketches and diagrams and Blueprint Reading. Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes. Prepares broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces. Experienced and highly skilled in all types of cutting to include oxy-Acetylene, air arcing, and plasma. Stick and MIG, and flex-core welding. Familiar with proper welding procedures for all metals and alloys ordinarily found in heavy construction equipment. Repairs, modifies, lays-out, or fabricates (with or without schematics) a variety of metal work including construction vehicles and equipment. Cuts, fits, and welds metal using gas and electric welding, equipment, performs skilled brazing and soldering; and uses a variety of machines, such as power saws, grinders, and drills, in completing work. Operates heavy equipment. Removes, installs, and/or repairs undercarriage components. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: General knowledge of tools and methods of the welding trade, including brazing, soldering electrical, and arc welding; the operation, minor repair, and preventive maintenance of gas-and diesel powered construction equipment; and safety practices related to welding and equipment repairs. Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical manuals; design, fabricate, and repair a variety of metal work; maintain simple records; perform minor repair and maintenance on a variety of diesel-powered heavy equipment; operate a variety of construction equipment; and work cooperatively with others. Ability to provide accurate information to lead/supervisor for quoting. Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and a crane qualification test performed. Ability to work unsupervised efficiently, and be part of a team environment. Performs the position with pride in professionalism while following Hawthorne's code of conduct. High school diploma or equivalent Prefer to have the following: Minimum or equivalent of five (5) years experience in skilled gas and electric welding plus two years in minor repair of gas and diesel-powered heavy equipment. Possess basic computer knowledge and ability to use service software required in position. Must have valid CA Driver's License with a clean driving record. Field Requirements: Valid California Class “B” driver's license, is required. Furnish all hand tools required to repair, test and diagnose hydraulic, air, power train, electrical and electronic systems on Caterpillar equipment. NOTE: Some high dollar value tooling is supplied by Hawthorne. Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication by radio, phone and in person. POSITION SUMMARY: The Rental Coordinator handles all administrative duties pertaining to the rental department and assists both internal and external customers with all equipment needs; ensures customers are set up in all appropriate systems, confirms equipment is prepped and ready and may handle cashiering duties and anything else assigned by his/her supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists customers with all equipment needs. Schedules all deliveries and pickups. Handles total responsibility for shipping & delivery of units to customers to correct locations and in a timely manner as well as to and from tradeshows and other events. Processes all AR/AP administrative duties for department, processes invoices for Sales, New, Used and Loadbanks department equipment. Updates rental Calendar and ensures available equipment is ready to go for customers. Contacts customers regarding free trainings and follows up with customer appreciation and Rental Rewards program. Ensures all deposit policies and procedures are being followed. May handle cash and cashiering responsibilities with rental customers. Responsible for collection of payment when customer is a “cash” customer. Returns equipment, issues credit and handles additional billing as needed. With the approval by the Rental Supervisor, advises and bills the customer for the cost of repair for machine damage. Works Hand-In-Hand with Shop Supervisor to coordinate Service schedules on Long Term rentals. Assists in Inventory Coordination. Work with Yard Coordinator on Equipment Registrations, CARB permits, & Equipment Check-ins. Handles other administrative duties including travel arrangements, hotel accommodations and transportation. Any other function your manager deems necessary EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Must have 2 years general office experience. PC skills required. Must possess strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively preferred. Must have a valid Class C Driver's License with a good driving record. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Service Manager, this position exists to ensure the timely Return to Rent Ready (R2R) of all inbound returned rentals. Includes all elements of the R2R process including prepping of outbound units scheduled for delivery. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform equipment fueling and inspections when equipment enters the yard. Prepare equipment for rental and staging. Will be asked to perform all yard functions at times including washing equipment. Responsible to communicate inbound equipment statuses and conditions in an effort to achieve prompt rental invoicing. Perform the following environmental inspections. Hazmat, hazwaste, storm water compliance, daily forklift inspections. Anticipates rental order needs such as bucket and work tool sizes and types. Keeps yard neat, clean, and organized. First line of communication on all yard traffic policies and adherence to speed limits. Assists branch manager with communicating to customers all Hawthorne safety practices and requirements. Assists walk in and will call customers with rental needs such as unloading and unhitching equipment. Will need to be able to operate all rental and yard equipment safely throughout the yard as needed. Determines equipment condition upon return and reports any damage or repair work necessary. Contributes to team effort by communicating actions, accomplishing related results as needed, and maintains a safe work environment. On occasion may assist facilities maintenance and building maintenance needs. Will need to operate and understand CAT Inspect or other types of digital photo or inspection related programs. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Must have High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Must have a valid California Class "C" Driver's License with a clean driving record. Must be able to be Forklift Certified within 30 days of employment. Must be computer literate. Must have good communication skills and business etiquette. Ability to multi-task. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Walking: Moves about on foot often up and down stairs. Handling: Works with hands. Lifting: Raises or lowers parts weighing up to 50lbs. Frequent exertion. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist. Standing: Remains in standing position, if required to perform various functions of the job. Vision: Reads paperwork and records on the computer. Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person. Sitting: Sits at desk for minimal amount of time. Climbing: Climbs on and off equipment. ENVIRONMENTAL: Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise. Temp/Weather: Works in both inside and outside all weather environments. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with territory Rental Sales Reps to grow existing customer relationships & provide support to secure rentals and equipment sales. At the direction of the Branch Managers, takes the lead on all large projects in the territory as the point of contact for the General Contractor. Works as primary point of contact for all military bases in the territory in order to secure rentals and equipment sales. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Works with all Rental Sales Representatives in the field to establish and grow new and existing customer base. Establish year over year growth with list of “key customers” assigned by Rental Manager. Assist customers in selection and application of equipment pointing out product advantages; represent company's interests. Ensure all business transactions are conducted in accordance with company policies. Quotes customer daily, weekly and monthly rental rates and rents out the equipment. Explains terms and conditions of the rental to the customer. Completes rental contacts by writing specifications; creating bid proposals; pricing changes; obtaining, following up on credit application and required paperwork. Coordinate & monitor transportation & logistics for rental equipment fleet. Tracks all equipment out on rent and in the rental fleet. Logs daily activity. When terms of the rental agreement are not met, customer is contacted and billed for additional days. Follow-up on adjustments and corrections; coordinating information and requirements with service supervisor; demonstrating proper use of equipment. Checks in equipment upon return, checks for damage and coordinates with service for fueling, repairs, etc. Maintains rapport with customer by communicating progress; resolving renter concerns. Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Must have a high school diploma or have passed a G.E.D. test. College degree in marketing or business is preferred. Minimum two (2) years' experience in rental material handling, capital goods retail sales/service, or logistical experience preferred. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have a positive attitude and be a self-starter. Must have a valid State Drivers' License with a good driving record. Ability and willingness to travel. Must have good working knowledge of MS Office programs.
