Perform manual, technical, and mechanically assisted duties related to the destruction, processing, inspection, and maintenance of explosive ordnance items and components.
Operate and maintain equipment in support of demilitarization and production operations, including melt kettles, hydraulic presses, grit blast machines, ovens, and electrostatic paint systems.
Support accountability of all munitions and components, including accurate documentation, discrepancy reporting, and use of systems such as the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) and AIT scanning tools.
Follow and enforce applicable safety, environmental, and explosive handling regulations, including adherence to explosive limits and EPA waste handling requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area; assist with general housekeeping duties within explosive operations facilities.
Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, vehicles, and material handling equipment to support movement of personnel, tools, and ammunition components.
Report potential safety and environmental hazards to leadership and participate in required safety briefings and training.
Support emergency drills, contingency responses, and depot-wide operational requirements as directed.
Bid and proposal support if requested.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Electronics Technician maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and tests a variety of electronic systems and equipment in support of depot operations. The position requires a detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience in electronics maintenance, system troubleshooting, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
This is a contingent position expected to be located in Hawthorne, NV. The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent.
What You'll Do
Maintain, troubleshoot, install, modify, and repair electronic equipment and systems, including:
Computer-based intrusion detection and CCTV systems
Radio communications equipment
Plant fire protection systems
Audio/visual systems, motor speed controls, photo cell amplifiers, electronic air filters, pyrometers, regulators, water chlorination systems, battery chargers, and automatic temperature controls.
Perform repairs and testing of controller instruments, recorders, flow meters, transmitters, fluid controls, solid-state components, and boiler/material handling equipment controls.
Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment such as multimeters (VOM, VTVM, DVM), power meters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, and signal generators.
Support electrical safety by locating and clearing underground power and signal cables (up to 4160 volts) prior to excavation.
Maintain railroad crossing signal equipment at designated locations.
Complete all work in accordance with safety and environmental compliance requirements.
Accurately document work performed and maintain accountability for assigned tools and equipment.
Support depot operations in proximity to chemical/munitions demilitarization facilities.
Identify and report potential safety or environmental hazards.
Perform additional duties as assigned in support of mission requirements.
Bid and proposal support if requested.
Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Four (4) years of relevant experience with certifiable technical training as an apprentice, or at least one (1) year as a journeyman electronics mechanic required.
Valid state driver's license required.
Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, drawings, and specifications.
Demonstrated skill in using test equipment and performing complex troubleshooting.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.
Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English Language.
Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Physical Requirements:
The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities.
The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Diesel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more.
Travel Required ~10% travel required.
Position may require overtime and shift flexibility.

Amentum is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Equipment Mechanic will troubleshoot defective machinery and equipment such as compressors, paint booths, drill and hydraulic presses, bolt drivers, conveyor systems, grit blasting equipment, and pneumatic power systems. The Equipment Mechanic will have proficiency in various trades to include welding and new equipment installations.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
Troubleshoot defective operations and breakdowns of machinery and equipment such as compressors, paint booths, drill and hydraulic presses, bolt drivers, conveyor systems, grit blasting equipment, and pneumatic power systems
Provide support to production and other facilities by install new machinery, relocate machinery presently in use to new locations, and realign machine beds.
Troubleshoot, replace or repair parts, wheels, shafting, bearings, etc.
Adjust clearances, belt drives, and various other working parts.
Perform preventive maintenance, overhaul, and repair work.
Realign gears.
Install tools and fixtures on ordnance type equipment.
May be required to perate lathes, drill presses, power saws, milling machines, and pedestal grinders to fabricate simple replacement parts.
May be required to perform minor AC/DC and oxy/acetylene gas welding.
Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
May be required to work overtime.
Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
Reads and understands Task Hazard Analysis for identifying risks to health and safety during job specific tasks in the work place.
Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.
May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above.
Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma/equivalent.
Minimum of Two (2) years' experience as an Equipment Mechanic or related experience. A combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Must have the mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot machinery, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Must be able to identify and use a wide variety of tools and machinery.
Must be able to obtain/maintain all certifications as required by Amentum's Master Training Plan.
Good writing and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to operate a computerized based terminal and literate in common software applications.
Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
Be detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment in problem solving.
Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.
Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license. Must be able to pass a MVR check with a clean record.

Compensation:
The starting hourly rate for this position is $30.38-$40.80 (Per the CBA). Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
