In a further testament to Louise’s enduring legacy, The Hay Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation established in 1986, carries on her mission of supporting organizations that enhance the quality of life for all beings who share our world—and for the planet itself.
She grew famous for her work with AIDS patients and was invited to appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Donahue” in the same week, in March 1988. “You Can Heal Your Life” immediately landed on the New York Times best-seller list.
Reid Tracy joined Hay House as an accountant in 1988.
He went on to take over as the CEO in 1990 at the age of 25.
For 18 years, until he hired an acquiring editor in 2007, Tracy selected all the material the house published, up to 100 books and tapes a year in recent years.
According to The New York Times Magazine, the publisher sold more than 6 million books and other products in 2007, bringing in US$100 million in revenues.
As of 2018, Hay House reports that they publish books by more than 130 authors and sells their products and services in over 35 countries and that they employ over 100 full time staff members.
