The Graphic Designer will play a critical role in building our in-house agency by creating, implementing, and supporting a combination of brand and business objectives from various stakeholders at HAYWARD. Working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, this person will be a problem-solver, delivering a wide range of creative solutions across print, digital, packaging, POP, and event/tradeshow platforms. This position will be located at 1415 Vantage Park Drive, Suite 400, Charlotte, NC (Uptown). The graphic designer will work onsite at this Charlotte location with our growing team! Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, the graphic designer must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Develop creative solutions for a wide variety of print and digital projects, demonstrating expert visual communication skills with a keen eye for hierarchy, layout, typography, and relevant messaging for the target audience. Develop a wide range of creative assets including print and digital ads, catalogs, brochures, presentations, sell sheets, packaging, POP, eblasts, web banners, print/packaging mockups, display ads, tradeshow graphics and various other materials that support the brand strategy and business objectives. Ability to interpret and execute against creative briefs and strategic objectives with purposeful, impactful, and relevant solutions. Coordinate and collaborate on projects with external vendors including print and production vendors, ad agencies, photo/video studios, developers, and others. Support digital and website creative, working closely with front end development team. Work with outside agencies to support sales, HR and other Hayward departments for communication needs. Stay current with emerging design and digital trends, along with the industry's competitive landscape and share innovations with internal teams. Help to maintain an updated repository of creative and marketing assets including images, photography, videos, native art files, logos, presentation templates, etc. Requirements: Highly creative, motivated team player with excellent, versatile problem-solving skills. Qualifications Must have 2 to 4 years graphic design experience working in, or closely supporting, an in-house design department. Creative experience within a mid-to-large size consumer or B2B products company or related manufacturing company is a plus. Must have strong understanding of prepress and preparing files for production. Proven design expertise across a variety of print and digital platforms. Must have in-depth knowledge of Photoshop specifically for color correction and retouching. Must be an expert in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat. Must be proficient in MS Office software - PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Copywriting and/or advertising experience is a plus. Experience with producing and editing video is a plus. Designing for E-commerce experience is a plus. Champions continuous improvement efforts, failure analysis, defect and variation reduction, problem-solving, and risk mitigation initiatives to maintain an effective Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure Hayward products meet or exceed customer expectations. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a plant-wide quality assurance system and team that contributes to customer satisfaction and Hayward's success. Responsibilities * Be the Quality Champion / Voice of Quality / Customer Advocate for the Clemmons facility. * Supervises and trains QA/QC staff; determines workload priorities to support Operations and Engineering needs. Ensure that plant QA/QC is properly resourced to support customer needs, manufacturing operations, and product design/development. * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning and prioritizing workload and assigning and directing workforce accordingly, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee complaints and resolving problems. * Ensure all internally fabricated parts, purchased parts and finished products conform to engineering prints and performance specifications, and all non-conforming items are appropriately identified, quarantined, reviewed, and dispositioned. Ensure relevant parties (production mgmt, planning, supply chain, etc.…) are informed and involved throughout this process. * Support New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering efforts through active Quality department participation in assigned design development projects. * Actively participate in the Product Change / Engineering Change (PCD/ECN) process as the QA review authority for the Clemmons facility. Proactively review changes to ensure product quality/integrity/reliability are not compromised; work with change authors to resolve concerns and promptly report unresolved concerns to the Director of Global Quality. Ensure First Article Inspections (FAI) are completed, documented, approved, and reported in a timely manner * Actively participate as a member of the Clemmons facility staff in plant meetings and activities. * Prepare and submit Quality department budgets and capital expenditure proposals for the Clemmons facility. * Ensure metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) are established and used to monitor product quality, manufacturing performance, and drive continuous improvement. Actively investigate opportunities to apply or improve the use of metrics throughout the facility. * Manage the Returned Materials Area (RMA) and Returned Goods Authorization (RGA) process, including overseeing evaluations and /or failure analysis of returned goods. Ensures that findings are documented and regularly reported to appropriate functions/personnel. * Effectively use problem-solving processes (e.g.,8D, A3, Shainin Red-X, DMAIC) to develop root-cause analyses, effective corrective actions, and process improvement. * Ensure consistent monitoring of supplier performance with Supplier Quality Engineers through the use of Supplier Scorecards for critical suppliers. Maintain regular contact with Supplier Quality Engineers on current suppliers and the evaluation of potential new suppliers as appropriate. * Ensure appropriate supplier quality requirements are established and consistently applied to ensure conformance to established requirements for all supplied parts, components, or systems. Work with Supplier Quality Engineers to pursue Supplier Corrective Action Responses (SCARs) for systemic or significant failures. * Maintain active and effective calibration and testing programs. * Recommend actions or policies that result in improved quality, efficiency, cost reduction, or profitability for the company. * Interact with Technical Services and Sales personnel to investigate, understand, and resolve customer / field complaint issues. Provide feedback to Clemmons Operations on issues resulting from manufacturing non-conformances and request formal corrective action when appropriate. * All other reasonable duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university, preferably in a technical field (Engineering, Science, or Math), required with minimum 10 years related experience in Manufacturing Quality, Operations, and/or Engineering. ASQ (CQE, CMQ, or CRE) or other relevant professional certifications desired. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk. Informs Operators of any problems. + Ensures finished product appears to be of highest quality, accurately printed and completed and free of errors. + Pull Product samples according to company procedures and send to Quality Auditors as required. + Notifies Operator immediately of any problems and/or errors. **DOWNTIME RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Webbing the press. + Assist Operators when the press is down. + Clean up particular press area, ie, mopping all areas, walls, tables, cans, tanks, floors behind press and also units. + Fill solvent cans, tank, and auto viscosity. + Fill varnish tank. + Help set-up cylinders for next job. + Help roll stand make blades, hand or cut down rolls. + Help in sort if the above is done and notify Operator. + Ensure correct set-up and breakdown of doctor blades using established instructions and procedures. + Properly remove/dispose of used doctor blades using all safety procedures. + After removal of used blades from press, dispose in safety container for used blades. + Clean backup blade using correct water, solvent or lacquer. + Remove holder to proper area in Pre-Make Department. + Set up new doctor blades according to policies and procedures ensuring all measurements are correct and blade is in proper position. **MAKE READY RESPONSIBILITIES** (if applicable) **:** + Ensure all product is purged from stacker and tables. + Assist in changing impression rollers. + Assist in putting tools in press, changing tab breaker section, tear down, and put pump together, separate the different sections of the press from tab section to cutter. + Change cylinders, pump out inks, fill solvent containers. + Remove and/or install print unit cassettes. + Maintains and follows all company policies and procedures for OHSE, personal protection, and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines. + Follows all personal protection procedures by use of appropriate personal protective equipment at all times while in designated areas and specific tasks requiring the use of PPE. + Follows established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste. + Maintains and wears proper uniform according to company policies. + Use Company provided safety lifting equipment, i.e., hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc. + On a regular basis, examines work areas to keep it in a safe and neat condition, including but not limited to proper grounding, cleanup ink and solvent containers. + Properly stores and arranges work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc. + Effectively demonstrates the ability to maintain work area in a safe and proper working order including but not limited to cleaning press area, mopping floors, emptying rag, blade and trashcans. + Understand the OHSE obligations, actively support the policy and implement the guiding principles in everyday activities. + Complies with cGMP, HACCP Food Safety Requirements, and Chain of Custody Program Requirements. **ROLL STAND RESPONSIBILITIES** (if applicable) **:** + Prepare and mount rolls, and operate splicing unit. + Record roll information as required for Pecas and NCM's. + Setting up cylinders for subsequent jobs. + Split cores with the core cutter. + Maintain viscosity of varnish according to standard practices with test cup and stop watch. + Change out varnish drums when empty disconnect and reconnect ink tanks and auto viscosity, clean varnish or other cylinder when needed. + Assist Operators whenever press is down. **FORKLIFT DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES** (if applicable) **:** + Maintain and support press operation through safe and effective material handling. Safe and correct operation and maintenance of forklift vehicles to ensure proper material moving and forklift operation. Loading and unloading of pallets, waste and recording and weighing of recyclable material. + Maintain annual certification of correct procedures and operation of lift equipment. + Use lift truck to move loads of raw materials, in-process stock, or finished goods throughout the facility. + Spot check load for correct labels and codes, and neatness. Place loads in designated area of warehouse. + Provide support to Press, i.e., check schedule board for upcoming jobs, check to make sure press has sufficient materials + Remove waste container changing over full containers to maintain empty container at press at all times. + Remove waste and cores from press, weigh and put on trucks for recycling. Supply corrugate, pallets and bundler film at delivery end of press. Make sure all material is in designated areas. Remove finished loads of product from delivery end of press. + Ensure proper installation of battery charging equipment and battery replacement according to company policies and procedures. Connect new battery using hoist equipment. Batteries must be charged outside the lift truck. + Complete all necessary paperwork as required including a daily lift truck inspection form. + Operate all equipment in a safe manner at all times to ensure no damage to Company property or customer product. + Report any and all accidents, injuries, and near misses. + Actively participates as a member of Press Crew to meet production and team goals. Interacts with operators, co-workers and all staff in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance. + As an integral member of a Press Crew, works effectively with other employees. Act as the primary interface between the Regional Project Manager and local site teams to ensure alignment of deployment timelines, issue resolution, and change requests. Track and report against a clear set of implementation KPIs that are a blend of programme and operational measures, SLAs, and post-go-live support metrics.
