Summary Position Highlights: The Environmental Services Specialty Technician's primary responsibility is disinfecting Specialty areas such as Infusion Pharmacy, Sterile Processing, Operating Rooms, Procedure Rooms, Cell Therapy. The GCCS consists of a series of extraction points known as wells, interconnected via piping. The collected gas is transported using gas conveyance equipment (such as a fan or blower). Landfill gas (LFG) collected by this extraction system from the landfill's wellfield is combusted within a flare. Proper operation of the GCCS is required to comply with various State and Federal environmental regulations. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance. GCCS operation and maintenance includes: Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield. Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations. Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan. Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric driven pumps (troubleshoot and determine liquid levels within liquid containment structures and or LFG collection wells). Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data. Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping materials. Complete the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training. Develop basic understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations and develop the ability to work within an environmentally regulated industry. Responsibilities Provide information and clarification on existing procedures, processes, and precedents to ensure work is completed in a safe and compliant manner in alignment with GHD, OSHA, and client standards. Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct inspection, maintenance, monitoring, and sampling of environmental groundwater wells. Perform field data collection and sampling of soil, surface water, and air in accordance with project plans and quality standards. Generate detailed field notes and enter collected data electronically into standardized databases. Coordinate with certified laboratories and ensure proper handling and shipping of collected samples. Analyze field readings, data, and operating parameters to support system optimization and reporting. Solutions Analysis: Find the most effective ways to respond to routine functional inquiries and operational issues related to site monitoring and remediation systems, following established procedures and precedents. Improvement/Innovation: Support others by implementing improvements to field methods, troubleshooting issues, and performing basic maintenance of environmental and remedial systems such as groundwater extraction, soil vapor extraction, and dual-phase extraction systems. Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations: Assist senior staff with site assessments, environmental data collection, and the interpretation of hydrogeologic and environmental conditions through routine calculations and fieldwork. Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow all mandatory procedures and safety practices, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Apply GHD's behavior-based safety culture in all aspects of field and office work. Participate in emergency response (ER) events as needed and adhere to safe work practices in challenging environmental conditions (e.g., hot/cold weather, wet or rough terrain, and loud equipment). Special Requirements: Ability to travel frequently and work extended or overnight hours as required by project demands.
