Work activities will include sorting through solid waste using hand tools to segregate waste items by type for the purpose of assessing various types of waste including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, food waste and regulated materials. Assisting with the separation of the waste, weighing and inventorying items for the purpose of data analysis and reporting. Work requires the ability to bend and lift 30 pounds or less, willingness to work in Tyvek safety suits, wear required safety equipment, and ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours. This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS consists of a series of extraction points known as wells, interconnected via piping. The collected gas is transported using gas conveyance equipment (such as a fan or blower). Landfill gas (LFG) collected by this extraction system from the landfill's wellfield is combusted within a flare. Proper operation of the GCCS is required to comply with various State and Federal environmental regulations. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance. GCCS operation and maintenance includes: Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield. Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations. Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan. Advance water-filled hose-lines up to 5 inches in diameter from fire apparatus to an occupancy (sometimes more than 150 feet); can involve negotiating multiple flights of stairs, ladders, and other obstacles. Climb ladders, operate from heights, walk or crawl in the dark along narrow and uneven surfaces and operate in proximity of electrical power lines and/or other hazards, at heights or distances of ten feet or more. Work under unpredictable emergency requirements for prolonged periods of extreme physical exertion, without the benefit of warm-up, scheduled rest periods, meals, access to medication(s), or hydration. Operate fire apparatus and other emergency vehicles during emergency and non-emergency modes. Utilize critical, time-sensitive, and complex problem solving during physical exertion in stressful, hazardous environments (including but not limited to hot, dark, tightly enclosed spaces), further aggravated by fatigue, flashing lights, sirens, and other distractions. Effectively communicate (give and comprehend verbal orders) while wearing PPE and SCBA under conditions of high background noise, poor visibility, and drenching from hose-lines and/or fixed protection systems (sprinklers). Function as an integral component of a team, where sudden incapacitation of a member can result in mission failure or in the risk of injury or death to civilians or team members. Perform and provide comprehensive emergency and non-emergency medical care pursuant to level of state certification, administer to ill and injured persons, and to persons who may pose health, blood, and airborne pathogenic risks. Required to wear bio-hazardous PPE and required to participate in various community health care programs. Perform assigned fire inspections, check fire escapes, building exits, and related structures and appurtenances for compliance with fire prevention ordinances, participate in fire drills, conduct fire station facility tours, and provide basic information of Fire Services activities to management. Train, read, and study assigned materials related to firefighting, prevention, hazardous materials, technical rescue, and emergency medical services. Participate in consistent and efficient physical fitness programs and maintain specified fitness levels. Operate a variety of medical equipment, including suction units, pulse oximeters, laryngoscopes, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, oxygen administration equipment and glucose monitors. Exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, explosives, firearms, water hazards, violence, disease, and pathogenic substances. Summary# As a part of the Environmental Services department, this position will be responsible for exceeding service excellence expectations while performing environmental services related tasks in order to provide a clean and safe environment for all patients, family members, guests, healthcare team members, and other associates. Will work as part of a team or individually to clean office areas, exam rooms, public areas and restrooms, ancillary areas, patient care rooms, and/or complete special projects as assigned while utilizing specialized equipment and chemicals. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional and will be expected to speak with others using clear and professional language. Must follow all departmental and hospital wide policies and procedures including standard operating procedures, work instructions, safety procedures, patient care procedures and patient privacy policies.
