Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Construction Manager/ Resident Engineer (CM/RE) to support the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities and conveyance facilities located in the central Ohio. The CM/RE will manage coordination, documentation, and inspection activities for various water and wastewater facilities and pipeline projects. Travel within the area may be required. Duties and responsibilities may include the following: Conducting on-site observations, monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of construction activities of water/wastewater facility projects. Managing and preparing requests for proposals, verifying material quantities, and reviewing payment applications. Coordinating and communicating with multi-discipline Hazen teams, owner, contractor, and third-party inspection/testing firms. Reviewing and interpreting Contract Documents including project specifications and drawings. Verifying and tracking work in accordance with approved shop drawing submittals. Assisting in the processing and review of RFIs and shop drawings prepared by the Contractor. Preparing sketches and assembling data for the Design Engineer's use. Observing Contractor performance and compliance with safety requirements. Assisting and coordinating with project start-up, testing, checkout, and training activities. Coordinating and facilitating communication between the Contractor, the Design Engineer, the Facility Managers, and the Owner. Reviewing Contractor's schedules, monthly pay estimates, and managing the review of change orders. Using cloud-based software for project documentation such as PROCORE, Unifier e-Builder, Autodesk Construction Cloud, etc. Interfacing with clients and performing client management activities. Assisting Hazen engineering design teams to provide constructability reviews and VE reviews. Other Construction and Project management activities, as needed. Qualifications and Skills: 10+ years relevant construction experience in heavy construction, mechanical and electrical construction, preferably in the water/wastewater industry Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil, structural, and mechanical engineering, and construction materials testing. Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Good verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Able to easily move around active construction site safely and effectively. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) are required and the ability to learn construction specific software use (i.e., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam) Certified Construction Manager (CCM), OSHA 10 certification and/or other industry certifications are plus. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under direct supervision of DCP or senior CS, supervise and coordinate all aspects of construction on assigned houses (currently 60+ annually for the department), including: maintain house build schedules provided in start packs, making appropriate request for materials, scheduling city/state inspections, daily on-site work, advance preparation for volunteer work day activities, maintaining a safe work site environment by filing weekly safety reports that includes all injuries and unsafe conditions, overall quality control and meet or exceed all schedule deadlines. Participates in development of the Winter LOS Report, which will include inspection results, analysis of data collected relative to weather conditions, traffic elements, equipment and material use. Conducts LOS analyses and uses Integrated Maintenance Management System (IMMS) data to prepare various reports as requested by District or Headquarters staff to support planning, budgeting, resource allocation and other management processes. Assists in monitoring the IMMS inventory to ensure that it is keep current; works with other staff to analyze data to exhibit the relationship between expenditures, overall inventory needs and Maintenance's ability to keep up with demands of the highway system.
