The applicant may have the option to work in either of these locations with some remote work possible.
Candidate will develop I&C system designs for the water and wastewater industry with the potential for Human Machine Interface and Programmable Logic Controller programming/ configuration work.
Candidate will develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system architecture drawings, and installation details; prepare instrumentation and control system specifications; prepare cost estimates for projects; and review & approve documentation developed by contractors. Must know how to use AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D or be willing to learn.
Candidate will work under the direct supervision of a more senior engineer; collaborate with engineers from other disciplines; and move into a project lead role as experience is gained.

The Water Control Systems Engineer position at the City of Tucson's Water Department designs and helps manage the City's water process control systems and ensures uninterrupted system delivery of potable and reclaimed water to customers throughout the City of Tucson water service areas.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Water Control Systems Manager. This position leads and instructs the daily operational work of Water Quality Management Administrative Support personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Supports the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, radios, security appliances and network monitoring applications. Designs and implements SCADA network and cyber-security infrastructure. Gathers network metrics, analyzes network statistics and reports. Ensures network hardware and software is configured to comply with the latest cyber-security requirements. Assists with network capacity planning to meet SCADA network requirements and growth. Maintains SCADA network equipment with the latest software patches and best practice configuration. Develops and maintains network documentation as it relates to network configuration, network diagrams and process.
* Implements and manages SCADA servers, workstations, and technology tools. Monitors performance and maintain systems according to SCADA requirements. Troubleshoots SCADA server and workstation issues. Ensures SCADA hardware security through access controls. Upgrades systems with approved releases and patching. Develops expertise to train staff in new technologies. Provides technical support for staff and back-end system users. Reviews system error logs and user-reported errors. Manages user access. * Implements, maintains, and supports current Tucson Water Control System application (OASyS 2018). Coordinate with consultants and Tucson Water Operations staff to properly identify monitoring, control, and data collection points for Tucson Water infrastructure. Configures and adjust HMI displays Ensures SCADA data is accurate, easily accessed and interpreted for Tucson Water Control System Operators. Troubleshoots and resolves Tucson Water Control System application issues.
* Monitors database performance, conducts regular performance tuning, and optimizes queries for maximum efficiency. Installs, configures, and upgrades database software and related tools. Develops and implements database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data reliability and minimize downtime. Performs routine maintenance tasks, such as database backups, index rebuilding, and statistics gathering. Generates reports on database performance, usage, and security compliance for management and stakeholders. Identifies and resolve database performance issues, such as slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention.

We will be replacing old hardware with new Allen Bradley PLC's and a FactoryTalk control system. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, design, and implementation of SCADA upgrades and control system improvements, ensuring integration across water, wastewater, and water resources systems.
Participate in and lead the Installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of a wide variety of instrumentation and control devices, including pressure, level, and flow transmitters, analytical instruments, and process sensors across plant and remote sites.
Manage the technical planning, development, and execution of a preventative maintenance (PM) program for all instrumentation and control equipment, including documentation, scheduling, and performance tracking.
Leads and enforces maintenance standards, calibration schedules, and repair protocols following industry best practices and regulatory compliance.
Provide advanced technical leadership in the troubleshooting, maintenance, programming, and optimization of SCADA, PLC, HMI, and Radio communication systems.

We have a great variety of interesting and challenging projects to work on and are pleased to advertise these positions. If you're bringing your PE from another state, you will have one year to obtain your Washington State PE by exam or comity. One of our positions is located in Newhalem, Washington. As the selected engineer, you will report to Newhalem, Washington and be assigned to support the day-to-day operations of the three power plants of the Skagit Hydroelectric Project. The Skagit project is in the North Cascades National Park and you will have the option to live in the company town of Newhalem depending on available space.
Our other position is located in downtown Seattle. As the selected engineer, you will report to Seattle Municipal Tower. With both positions, in addition to day-to-day support, you will be assigned capital projects to design and work collaboratively with field crews to install and test new equipment related to their design. Job Description
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Project Engineer for our Salt Lake City office. Candidate will provide I&C system engineering services and develop designs for the water and wastewater industry. This will include both in-plant and remote telemetry (SCADA) projects with the potential for HMI/PLC programming/configuration work.

Key Responsibilities:
Preparing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, control panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details.
Attend site visits, participate in client workshops and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Coordinating with the other disciplines (process/mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil).
Performing quality reviews of BIM models, Revit families, and CAD based files used in the production of contract documents.
Inspect, witness equipment testing, and approve of I&C work provided by contractors at water and wastewater facilities.
Develop SCADA Master Planning documents
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering
5-12 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of water/wastewater or industrial process instrumentation and equipment.
Must know how to use AutoCAD, or AutoCAD Plant 3D, or be willing to learn.
Control system software configuration/programming capability preferred.
Electrical design experience is a plus.
Strong verbal, writing and interpersonal skills are essential for coordination with other disciplines, and client interface.
PE License or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in engineering
