We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Central Texas Stormwater Lead to join our growing Stormwater Practice. This is a distinctive leadership opportunity to manage and expand KFA's technical capabilities while contributing to high-profile and impactful stormwater and drainage projects throughout Central Texas.
In this role, you will:
Lead and Grow the Team: Manage and mentor a talented group of stormwater professionals in Central Texas, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
Shape Regional Strategy: Collaborate with leadership to craft and execute a long-term strategy for the growth and development of KFA's Stormwater Practice in Central Texas.
Deliver Complex Projects: Lead the design and delivery of high-impact municipal stormwater projects, including drainage master planning, flood mitigation studies, storm drainage improvements, and channel restoration initiatives.
Drive Business Development: Cultivate client partnerships, direct project pursuits, and guide proposals, contracts, and presentations.
Promote Technical Excellence: Apply advanced expertise in H&H modeling tools (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM) to ensure innovative project delivery that meets client needs.
Requirements:
Texas PE license and a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
Minimum 10 years of experience delivering municipal stormwater projects, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership or project management role.
Proven success working with Central Texas municipalities, especially the City of Austin.
Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and Civil 3D or MicroStation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing City of Austin Watershed Protection Department (WPD) projects.
Expertise in FEMA floodplain modeling, floodplain mapping, and TCEQ water quality design.
Experience with advanced modeling software (XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS 2D).
Background in channel design and stream bank stabilization.
Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) designation is a strong plus.

Job Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least eight years' experience in site development, plus engineering, project management, and planning experience.
This position requires a B.S. degree or higher, a California P.E. license, and a minimum of five years of experience. We require experience with sustainable design practices, meeting Low Impact Development (LID) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) goals, and proven ability to prepare SUSMPs, SWPPPs, and WQMPs.
Ability to visit job sites to inspect existing conditions and envision potential scope of work requirements
Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time at a desk working on a computer and viewing a screen.
Ability to apply established engineering principles to solve problems and/or overcome obstacles using sound judgement, independent decision making, and prolonged focus
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to focus on client satisfaction, possess high-level communication and interpersonal skills with an interest in training, developing, and supporting staff, and have experience working in a cooperative team environment.

Compensation
: The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills.

* Coastal engineering analysis in support of coastal flood hazard studies under a predefined framework, specifically wave runup/overtopping analysis, and wave overland propagation analysis.
* Demonstrated experience with preparation of design plans and specifications for bidding and construction purposes.
* Demonstrated experience with construction oversight and administration duties including shop drawing approval, review of contractor surveys/progress reports, and execution of final certification(s) upon project completion.
* Application of numerical modeling tools for simulating circulation, waves, water quality, sediment transport, or mixing (e.g. MIKE, ADCIRC, Xbeach, GenCADE, CMS, Delft3D, SWAN).
* Skill in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project).
