Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Transit & Rail Business Developer/Project Manager to grow Stantec's market share in the Transit & Rail Sector (T&R) in New England, with specific emphasis on the greater Boston market, by providing expertise in the pursuit and delivery of T&R planning and design projects. The position will include providing leadership for business development activities within the New England T&R market and working closely with our US Northeast Transportation leadership team to develop a strategic plan to grow Stantec's T&R market share in New England. This position will be tasked with growing, mentoring, and providing direct supervision to a T&R sector team that will have individuals based in various locations across the US Northeast region but reside in the Boston, MA or Burlington MA office. Your Key Responsibilities - What Will You Be Doing?
Business Development
* Strategic planning in the New England T&R market, identifying specific opportunities and teaming partners, executing a strong pursuit process, and winning key pursuits:
* Commitment to the consistent use of Stantec's Pipeline for all opportunities.
* Identify, track, and pursue leads. Coordinate those opportunities with business development managers.
* Collaborate with existing groups including the various rail and transit planning, design, and PMCM teams and the transit buildings teams to define win themes and pre-propositioning activities for successful pursuits.
* Lead the proposal process including hands-on participation with fee and schedule negotiations. Support technical components of proposals for larger planning and engineering pursuits.
* Identify key teaming partners and collaborate with other Business Centers and geographies in expanding Stantec's market share.
* Support development of financial goals and strategic objectives of the Fiscal Year Business Plan in coordination with Business Center and Sector leadership.
* Increase Stantec's industry profile through regular interaction with potential clients and other consultants and active participation in industry organizations, such as APTA, COMTO, and AREMA, and other relevant local, regional, or national organizations such as WTS and ACEC.
* Raise awareness of the Stantec brand through social media, whitepapers, articles, and conference presentations.
* Support our strategic growth initiatives through networking, promotion, university outreach, and the delivery of transformational projects to attract the best and brightest talent to Stantec.
* Maintain relationships with industry contacts, especially transit agency technical staff and leaders and introducing Stantec's broader capabilities.
* Collaborate and coordinate with our Innovation Team to understand and market our digital solutions offerings.
Project and People Management
* The position will interface with the client and project team, provide technical direction, manage contract risk, and assist with reviewing technical documents and project deliverables to meet the needs of a project's overall success. Potential roles on projects could include Subject Matter Expert, Task Manager, or Project Manager for assignments.
* Serve as a critical technical expert and provide expertise and guidance on projects to demonstrate compliance with the latest standards and guidelines.
* Supervise and mentor planners, engineers, architects, and other technical professionals in the preparation of deliverables.
* Convene teams of technical experts to develop win themes for pursuits.
* Commitment to continuous improvement in QA/QC processes and fostering a culture of being cost effective and thorough in preparing proposals and delivering projects.
* Coordinate regularly with local and regional leadership to assure consistent direction and growth strategies that support Stantec's Strategic Plan for the US Northeast T&R Sector.
* Take actions to positively impact the engagement of our local/regional teams and office culture.
* Retain and attract key talent to support the growth of our local/regional T&R sector.

What Will You Need to Succeed?

* Experience with the role of deputy design manager, design manager, and or quality manager on mid to large scale projects
* Experience leading the design and construction support of complex transportation projects
* Experience developing, negotiating, and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets
* Business development experience required

* Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staff

* Familiarity with LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, OpenAI APIs) and multi-agent orchestration tools. Hands-on experience building AI agents with LLMs, including RAG, using these frameworks is preferred.

Education and Experience
* Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering
* Experience: Minimum of 15 years related experience in project management, preferably for conveyance and water infrastructure design projects.
* Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
* Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
* Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.

Your Key Responsibilities
* You Manage a team of design professionals and technicians
* You mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams
* You perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships. Routine tasks include: - Participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals
* Client facing business development contact, meetings, walk-downs, and presentations
* Scope of work documents and estimates
* Collaboration with multiple business lines to develop opportunities
* You assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
* Engineering reports
* Feasibility studies
* Presentations to clients, regulatory agencies and/or project stakeholders
* Quality reviews
* You assist with the management of the design and construction of projects.
* You develop project management plans for projects; establishes goals and objectives for unique and complex projects.
* You are responsible for successfully establishing projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations.
* You conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical review projects by others.
* You are involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel.
* You are accountable for making decisions on large projects. You coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval.
* You manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams
* You research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects
* You assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting.
* You oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort of comparable size.
* You undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance.
* You supervise local staff and are responsible for providing mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including the development of succession plans for key positions.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
* You inspire project teams to higher levels of achievement.

* Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
Education and Experience
* Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering
* Minimum of 15 years' related experience in project management for water-related projects with minimum of 10 years' experience in NC.
* Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in NC.
* Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
* Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
* Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.

We have an immediate opportunity within our Water practice in the Carolinas for a Water/Wastewater Engineer to pursue and manage municipal and industrial projects including water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance and treatment facilities and related civil infrastructure. The successful candidate will use their management and technical abilities to work within a team of water professionals to win, manage, and deliver projects involving the planning and design of a wide array of civil and water resources projects, with the goals of:

Your Key Responsibilities
- Management and successful pursuit of water-related projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage and pursue project(s) or tasks within a larger project. Manage and lead other team members while working on projects, complete tasks and delegate specific project tasks to other team members as appropriate.
- Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams.
- Participate in marketing efforts and business development including relationship development, proposal preparation and participation in interviews.
- Interact with clients and management regarding status of project scope, schedule, and budget
- Apply and share experience/knowledge of planning and design expertise.
- Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects.
- Prepare project deliverables and ensure that projects' needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
- Perform calculations, report preparation, process study, research investigations, preparation of plans and specifications and other activities requiring knowledge of principles and techniques for a variety of projects with a focus on water/wastewater treatment and conveyance, storm water management, regulatory compliance, low impact development (LID) design, and green infrastructure.
- Develop engineering conclusions for data analysis.
- Determine the permitting requirements for the particular type of work being designed for the location in which it is to be constructed. Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel and governing entities.
- Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
- Interact directly with clients to gather information and discuss project requirements.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Assign tasks to and coordinates work of project technical team.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Exceptional working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental legislation and regulations.

Education and Experience
