Stantec is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to assist with upcoming fieldwork that will occur primarily in New York and Pennsylvania. #StayInquisitive
Your Key Responsibilities
- The position will primarily consist of fieldwork but may include exposure to a wider range of other duties including laboratory research and analysis. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: perform archaeological fieldwork tasks including controlled surface survey; shovel test survey; and excavation. Duties may also include cleaning, cataloging, photographing, and labeling artifacts recovered from surface collection and excavation.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience with completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery
- Previous experience with mapping equipment and other special application equipment (e.g., total station, GPS, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel

- Knowledge of prehistoric and historic material culture
- Ability to complete physically demanding tasks in remote areas and/or humid continental climate, including walking, hiking, carrying loads up to 50 pounds, and digging
- Qualified applicants should exhibit strong technical skills, good communication skills, and feel comfortable making decisions in the field
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check

Our commissioning group focuses on three essential key points for every project from the first day we become part of the project team. Communication, documentation, and verification. These points are integral to all quality assurance applications.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Participate in all phases of commissioning projects which may include a variety of complex features, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of work.
- Perform engineering design reviews, prepare commissioning test procedures and reports, direct client-site testing and manage the training of on-site staff.
- Prepare equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures; Development of standard operating procedures (SOP's) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); Comprehensive Commissioning documentation.
- Prepare commissioning test procedures and reports
- Develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track commissioning projects.
- Prepare comprehensive reports; recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
- Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
- Participate in commissioning activity meetings.

- Develop and administer functional tests for various building Mechanical systems, such as HVAC air and water distribution systems, air handling units, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, etc.
- Planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of commissioning services for both new and existing buildings.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (this role requires heavy amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction).
- High competency in technical writing, systems development and utilization.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of MEP systems and controls design, installation, and operation a plus.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to a wide audience, including contractors, architects, engineers, and others with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
- This position will require domestic and/or international travel up to 75% of the time,
- Proven track record of performing commissioning planning, functional testing, building performance investigation including re-commissioning, retro-commissioning and/or preventative maintenance, and building system troubleshooting experience for new and existing buildings.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or accredited college or university a plus
- Minimum of 2 years experience in an engineering service delivery organization/and or consulting /design environment with proven work-related experience in MEP systems
- Data Center / Mission Critical Experience preferred
- Previous experience working on a mission-critical facility construction site is a plus
- EIT a plus
- LEED AP accreditation is a plus
- CXA, AABC, ACG certification a plus.

- Subconsultant and vendor commercial management and administration, including solicitation, subconsultant agreements, invoicing, payments, and Change Management.

Our Buildings team is looking for an Electrical Designer. You will work with close guidance and supervision on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. Your Key Responsibilities
Organize and coordinate a variety of environmental investigation and remediation tasks such as ground water monitoring, soil boring/well installations, operation and maintenance, and other activities.
Responsibilities will include a mix of office and field-based tasks and will include project execution, scheduling, compliance monitoring, data analysis/reduction, and technical reporting.
Reporting and data reduction tasks may include preparation of site maps, soil boring logs, well construction diagrams, geologic cross sections, potentiometric surface maps, and groundwater flow models.
Field-based tasks will include coordination, supervision, and execution of work that includes, but is not limited to, collecting soil, sediment, water and air samples; overseeing drilling of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells; performing hydraulic conductivity tests; excavation monitoring; use of instrumentation; overseeing subcontractors; and coordinating complex field tasks with multiple staff and subcontractors. Your Key Responsibilities
- Typical projects or design tasks may include the design of sanitary, storm, and watermain projects and overland flow / civil site plan design projects. Manages project technical tasks including completing design work, calculations, writing specifications and technical reports on a wide range of civil infrastructure projects generally involving sanitary & storm sewer and watermain design, pump stations, stormwater management/drainage plans.
- Coordinates design and report deliverable packages for submission to clients and/or approval authorities.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and attend meetings with the client, team members and sub-consultants.
- Understands and implements industry standards and manuals as well as client and regulatory agencies standards and requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Prepare engineering documents and contract documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules.
- Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
- Participate in basic cost estimating under the direction of technical leaders to support engineering projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Stantec is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager, to provide technical leadership for our clients and staff on a variety of Power sector projects. Your Key Responsibilities
Assist with development and implementation of strategic business/action plan, provide leadership, and deliver results to expand Stantec's environmental practice specifically related to assessment and remediation opportunities. Serve as a key member of the practice team to drive profitable growth across service lines (natural resources, assessment permitting and compliance including Section 401/404 of the Clean Water Act and NEPA, ecosystem services, stormwater management, and water resources management) in the Eastern US.
- As a senior consultant, contribute to business development of Stantec's environmental services practice, including Identify and develop new opportunities including preparing effective technical proposals, and taking an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients.
- Supporting power sector work in compliance and permitting throughout the mid-Atlantic.
- Executing environmental permitting strategy, developing regulatory strategy, and directing environmental field surveys and construction compliance for a variety of projects.
- Completing and/or overseeing permit application preparation, including gathering supporting documentation, conducting environmental assessments, and coordinating comment response with agencies.
- Managing information development, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat characterizations, Section 106 studies, land use mapping and vegetation cover classification, GPS data collection, consultations, permitting, and report
- Preparing technical reports for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ), Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Fish and Wildlife Service, and other federal, state, and local agencies.
- Planning, organizing, and managing the production of project deliverables to ensure on time delivery, technical quality and within budget
- Executing multiple projects concurrently.
- Mentoring junior staff.
- Directing subcontracted services and managing project budgets, schedules, and teams.
- Performing quality assurance/ quality control reviews of environmental deliverables.
- Performing and/or overseeing Environmental Compliance Monitoring and coordinate inspections, staffing, and record keeping.
- Project management including coordinating work efforts and the preparation of deliverables reports, client stewardship and coordinating with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Provide technical and regulatory guidance/support for development projects in the pre-project, permitting stage, and post-approval stage of site development
- Prepare budgets and identify tasks while carrying out project work within agreed time-frames and on budget and within the Stantec PM framework.
- Communicate and collaborate with other Stantec professionals to ensure consistency in project execution and delivery.
- Participate in and lead team and independent based work
- Supporting and ensuring implementation of Stantec Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

As a Mechanical Engineer, your role in our professional consulting services team is to work independently on multidisciplinary projects of various complexity as a discipline leader, through all phases of a project lifecycle. Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various projects from preliminary design through bid and construction phases.
- Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for small-to- medium size projects, setting criteria for following design stages.
- Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction site visits for design compliance.
- Develop HVAC calculations including building cooling and heating load calculations, air distribution system sizing, and hydronic distribution system sizing.
- Develop Plumbing calculations including domestic water, sanitary waste, and storm water systems sizing.
- Apply design codes and standards based on the project needs.
- Coordinate design with other design disciplines throughout the life of a project.
- Assist with mentoring engineers in training (EIT) to develop and strengthen their skills and technical abilities.
- Travel to job sites in your state of residence and other states (5%)
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- In-depth understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals such as psychrometric chart, refrigeration cycle and heat transfer.
- Experience in designing HVAC and Plumbing systems. Fire Protection design is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with design codes and standards of practice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project deliverables.
- Ability to lead one or more projects simultaneously.
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software - HAP or Trace.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
Preferred Qualifications

* Creates electrical design documentation for the electrical discipline using direct knowledge of relevant software programs such as Revit / AutoCAD and providing direction to junior staff via markups or other method to convey design intent and expectations.

Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
Professional Engineering license required.

Fire Protection Engineers (FPEs) protect lives and property. They plan and design engineering projects that prevent fires from occurring and minimize the impact of those fires that do occur. Fire protection systems detect, control and reduce fire and smoke in buildings and structures. FPEs recommend materials, equipment, and systems to assist in safeguarding life and property against fire, analyze how fire behaves and model how safety features perform in a fire. They assess the fire protection needs within projects and document those in design analysis or basis of design reports. They create design documents for fire protection systems, including drawings, using computer-aided design (CAD) or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, and specifications that are used to direct the construction of buildings and systems in the field. FPEs perform construction progress inspections and acceptance tests / commissioning to ensure that installed systems comply with the construction documents and applicable codes and that they function as intended. A Fire Protection Engineer performs engineering work under close supervision requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out a sequence of related fire protection engineering tasks such as the preparation of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards and drawings. The role applies professional concepts and expands upon learning while performing various phases of engineering work receiving detailed instruction.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Apply concepts of fire protection engineering through investigation and analysis to support engineering projects that may include design of fire suppression systems (sprinklers and standpipes, water supply, special hazard extinguishing systems), fire detection and alarm systems, and smoke control systems, selection of fire-resistant materials and assemblies, and development of egress strategies.
- Perform calculations to analyze and design engineering system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Gather information to support design decisions.
- Prepare engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports with guidance from senior engineers.
- Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Work with other architecture and engineering design professionals in the coordination and delivery of projects under the direction of a senior engineer.
- Provide support services during construction, including submittal reviews, response to requests for information and contract document clarifications, construction progress inspections and acceptance testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Knowledge of, and experience interpreting and applying, building and fire codes and NFPA standards.
- Knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems, including fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, smoke control systems, fire resistive construction and egress systems.

Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) who has passed the fire protection engineering examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, or actively working towards obtaining Fire Protection Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure.
