Our team of structural engineers works collaboratively with other design professionals across all Stantec's buildings business sectors. The Structural BIM lead will be counted upon to work alongside our Structural Engineers and lead our BIM technicians in delivering for our clients. Your Duties: The primary role of a Structural BIM Lead is to manage the team's BIM technicians to support and deliver project deliverables. Additionally, the Structural BIM Lead in collaboration with colleagues, will define BIM policies and best practices for the group. In addition to the management and oversight of the BIM group, the structural BIM lead will also work independently in producing documentation for project deliveries. Additional responsibilities include: * Acts as liaison for BIM related subject matter both internally and externally. * Collaborate with the Structural Engineers to resource and staff projects. * Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop standards and process improvements. * Leads the set-up, maintenance, and development of project models * Works with project managers and technical design staff to prepare drawing documentation. * Develops families and other electronic template materials following corporate guidelines. * Reviews projects for adherence to firm standards * Evaluates and recommends BIM related software * Creates end user training and support materials * Oversees and leads in the development of BIM Execution Plans for projects * Communicates corporate initiatives and standards to the BC team * Creates electronic data files in compliance with Stantec and client requirements. * Converts markups to document-ready work. * Publishes, posts, and manages drawing sets. * Maintains drawing revisions. * Assists other staff with Revit issues and mentors design staff in Design Technology systems use across multiple office locations * Provides insight and recommendations to increase efficiency and value of BIM production. * Increases technical and project knowledge by proactively identifying and participating in training opportunities. * Attends in-house project meetings and external meetings. * Actively participates in meetings, initiatives, and projects that support group and firm-wide goals. Your Capabilities and Credentials: * Strong working knowledge of recent versions of Revit and how it is applied within the built environment. * Strong working knowledge of Building Information Modeling. * Familiarity with Computer Aided Design tools (AUTOCAD) * Certifications relevant to the position. * Revit family creation and maintenance. * Client-centric, can-do approach to project work and assignments. * Familiarity with methods of design to support the buildings architectural/engineering field. * High level of initiative, with ability to synthesize new technologies, industry trends, and client needs to make recommendations and initiative changes that add efficiency and value. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines according to client and internal needs and schedules. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Skilled at clash detection in Revit. Clash detection skills with Navisworks is preferred. Education and Experience: * Certificate from technical college. Our team of structural engineers works collaboratively with other design professionals across all Stantec's buildings business sectors. The Structural BIM lead will be counted upon to work alongside our Structural Engineers and lead our BIM technicians in delivering for our clients. Your Duties: The primary role of a Structural BIM Lead is to manage the team's BIM technicians to support and deliver project deliverables. Your Opportunity Our Buildings team in Raleigh, NC is seeking an enthusiastic Structural Engineer to collaborate on the design of facilities with Architects, Interior Designers, and other Buildings Engineers. The position will provide structural support for K-12 education, higher education, commercial, federal, municipal, and industrial building projects, as part of the integrated services design team. Your Key Responsibilities * Engages in the development of structural design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats * Performs design calculations per code and client requirements. * Collaborates with structural team lead for structural design and overall management of projects as part of a project team. * Works closely with team lead and other engineers on large projects of high complexity. * Provides mentoring and assists in training of structural designers and EITs. * Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers * Prepares and revises documentation in various structural phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details. * Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of building's structural systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers * Provides review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks * Assists with the development of proposals for projects of varying size and complexity Your Capabilities and Credentials * Demonstrated ability and desire to work with, and contribute to, a larger team (people management experience, including project-related work, is highly desirable) * Requisite knowledge and application of structural material design codes, standards, and applicable building codes. * Working knowledge of several different construction types including steel, concrete, wood and masonry. * Understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. * Strong knowledge of structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards. * Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others * Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. * Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. * Superior verbal and written communication skills. * Strong problem-solving skills * Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Structural Component Design Software, Comprehensive Building Analysis Software, and Structure Finite Element Analysis such as Tekla, Bently/RAM Products, Risa 3D, and/or CSI Products. * Valid driver's license with a good driving record Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Master's degree preferred * Licensed Professional Engineer * Minimum of 8 years of experience Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
