Join our team and help us keep communities connected. Your Opportunity Stantec's Transportation group is looking for a Fuel System Engineer-Designer in Portland, ME, Auburn, NH or Kansas City, MO! We are seeking a mechanical, civil or electrical engineer to join Stantec's fast paced and nationally recognized Fuel System Engineering Team as a Fuel System Engineer - Designer. The Team specializes in the design of fuel infrastructure projects ranging from fleet, aviation, EV charging, and alternative fuel systems. This position will be responsible for working primarily with the Team in the Portland, ME, Auburn, NH or Kansas City, MO offices working on a wide range of fuel system designs. Working on diverse projects with multiple engineering disciplines, including structural, environmental, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering will be required on a project by project basis. The position will allow periodic “work from home” after the individual is successfully established and trained (timeframe TBD). Key Responsibilities: What Will You Be Doing? Office work will include Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) work for civil, mechanical, and electrical (focused on fuel) systems in AutoCAD and Revit, as well as specification and design report writing. Duties will include both work in the office and work in the field in a variety of outdoor weather conditions. Periodic local, regional, and national travel from time to time is included. Out of office work will include construction observation, site inspection, and compliance inspection. Capabilities and Credentials - What Will You Need to Succeed? Competence with MS Word and Excel required. Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit is required. Design and engineering systems. Proficient in CADD and BIM systems. Willing to train the right candidate with the proven design and CADD experience. Detail orientation, strong writing skills, and ability to communicate and work with a team are all important qualities. Successful candidates will be a self-starter who could identify daily needs and assist as necessary to complete client assignments. Education and Experience BS or MS in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering Technology, required. 5-10 years related work experience preferred. Will consider candidates with other experience ranges. EIT licensure or PE a plus. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. What You'll Do Develop and review electrical designs for wind and battery energy storage projects, including one-line diagrams, grounding, protection schemes, and cable sizing. Serve as the technical lead on projects, coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and clients to ensure technical excellence and project success. Perform electrical studies such as cable ampacity, energy loss, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and grounding analysis. Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, inverters, and batteries. Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including field inspections and troubleshooting. Conduct technical reviews and enforce quality control to maintain high standards in design and implementation. Provide technical guidance during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure the design intent is achieved in the field. Your Opportunity Stantec's New England Transportation group has an immediate need for a Civil Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in shared use path and trails design. We are looking for a talented, team focused individual with a positive attitude and strong Civil 3D skills. You will work on a variety of shared use path, trail and complete streets projects throughout Massachusetts. This position is flexible between our Burlington MA office and remote work. Our Burlington MA office at Blue Sky Center offers unrivaled amenities including an on-site fitness center, walking paths, secure bicycle storage, indoor and outdoor courts and games, golf simulator, café, and EV charging stations. The office is close to the Burlington Mall and Routes 3, 62 and 128 with ample on-site parking and plenty of lunch options nearby. Other regional office locations include Boston MA and Auburn, NH. Your Key Responsibilities * Design shared use path, trail and complete streets projects in accordance with AASHTO and MassDOT specifications and CAD Standards using AutoCAD Civil 3D. * Develop design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates. * Assist in preparing engineering reports and technical studies. * Collaborate with team members, other disciplines and offices, and specialty subconsultants. * Perform field investigations and construction phase services support. * Interact with and present project designs to clients, agencies, and the public. * Work alongside experienced practitioners to expand your knowledge. * Provide guidance to influence and mentor team members. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Familiarity with AASHTO and MassDOT design standards. * Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. * Experience working with MassDOT CAD Standards. * Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members. * Strong oral and written communication skills in both office and virtual environments. * Pro-active attitude, attention to detail, punctual, and organized. * Excellent time-management skills. * Enjoy challenges and problem-solving.
