Mission Cancer Program seeks to add another BE/BC breast surgeon to the multidisciplinary breast cancer program at Hope Women s Cancer Center in Asheville, NC. Hope Women's Cancer Center includes the following services: chemotherapy infusion, imaging with mammography, US, image guided breast biopsy, and CT.
Position Overview:
Incoming candidate will join a team of 5 physicians
Desire to join a well-established practice with a 30-year history in the community, a strong referral base and robust administrative support
Willing to work in/with a multidisciplinary team environment of breast surgeons, radiation oncologists, community plastic surgeons, radiologists, advanced practitioners, physical therapists, LCSW counselors, clinical research, nurse navigators and palliative care
Schedule is Monday Thursday 8 am - 5 pm and Friday 8 am - 4 pm; no call coverage

Must be board eligible/board certified in general surgery
Fellowship trained in breast surgery (completed / in process) preferred

Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING OR SKILL REQUIRED:
High School Diploma;
1 year of phlebotomy experience required;
1 year medical assistant experience required;
2 years of multi-phone line communication preferred;
2 years of customer service preferred;
Organizational skills
Able to multitask
Detail-oriented
Must have the ability to work with staff in confined areas
Advanced communication and people-skills: ability to efficiently deliver information, exchange ideas, and manage social situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
Medical Assistant
Explain treatment procedures to patients
Assist the physician during exams and patient checkups.
Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering calls, taking patients' medical history and filing and maintaining patient records
Schedule patient appointments and maintain communication to confirm future appointments
Coordinate daily office activities (i.e., greeting patients and checking patients in and out for their appointments)
Take tissue and fluid samples and send them in for laboratory analysis
Prepare and administer medications under the direction of the supervising physician.
Prepare exam rooms for clinical procedures and assist practitioners with patient care
Phlebotomy
Preparing patients before drawing blood.
Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly.
Gathering medical testing materials (needles, sample vials, blood storage bags, etc.)
Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests
Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working

**Essential Functions**
+ Performs routine preventive maintenance (PM) on medical equipment, including patient monitoring systems, infusion pumps, imaging devices, diagnostic equipment, and laboratory instruments.
+ Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs malfunctioning medical devices and systems in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
+ Conducts safety checks and electrical safety testing (ESD/ESI) on biomedical devices to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ANSI, IEC).
+ Documents maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

**Qualifications**
+ 1-3 years in biomedical equipment maintenance or a related technical field required
+ Military medical repair specialist school or equivalent electronic training and experience preferred
+ Familiarity with medical equipment and technology preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Experience with healthcare technology management programs, i.e. Internship.
+ Medical equipment knowledge (manufacturers, models, modalities, capital planning, etc.),
+ Understanding of regulatory requirements of medical devices (CMS, TJC, CLIA, AABB, NRC,State, Local).
+ Advanced/Strong computer skills (proficient with Microsoft products), experience with CMMS products.
+ Strong planning and organization skills.
+ Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
+ Basic knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical principles.
+ Strong technical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment.
**Licenses and Certifications**
