POSITION SUMMARY
This position independently provides and maintains peripheral and central venous access. This position conducts patient assessments and provides recommendations regarding care, serves as a resource person and specialist and provides assistance with departmental activities, quality improvement and development of best practice guidelines.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Reviews labs, patient history and physician orders to determine appropriate line to be utilized for the procedure and/or identify potential issues that may arise or preclude the patient from being a viable candidate or require alternate form of vascular access. Collaborates with physicians to determine appropriate long-term access needs. Obtains patient's authorization to perform the procedure. Inserts peripheral venous and/or arterial catheters to provide access or more complex vascular access as indicated.
2. Inserts and maintains peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) lines according to department policy and procedures to include dressing changes, line reviews and declotting. Utilizes ultrasound technology to ensure accurate insertion of the PICC line. Reviews chest x-rays to ensure accurate placement of the central venous catheter or device. Maintains sterile field throughout the insertion process to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation.
3. Inserts and maintains all central lines (simple and complex) in the neck and chest according to department policy and procedures to include dressing changes, line reviews, port access and declotting. Utilizes ultrasound technology, advanced knowledge of anatomy and specialized insertion techniques to ensure accurate and appropriate insertion of the central line. Reviews chest x-rays to ensure accurate placement of the central venous catheter or device. Maintains sterile field throughout the insertion process to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation.
4. Participates in ongoing monitoring of quality initiatives, department database, appropriateness and effectiveness of bundle compliance, acts as a change agent and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of quality goals/objective and quality management activities within the clinical service lines. May coordinate oversight of quality and safety standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
5. Acts as a resource to therapists and other healthcare practitioners regarding patient status, equipment and operational issues. Participates in interdisciplinary rounding, making recommendations for changes in therapy dictated by the patient's condition.
6. Provides training, orientation and patient education to staff, patients and families, in accordance with policy and practice guidelines. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures based on best practice.
7. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Provides maintenance of associated equipment as demonstrated through observation and documentation.
8. May, on occasion, provide respiratory therapy services as prescribed and in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures, including inserting and maintaining arterial lines, assisting in FDPAC and IAPB insertion and associated invasive cardiac outputs/profile and non-invasive cardiac outputs. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
9. This position independently provides central and peripheral vascular access, and advanced clinical monitoring techniques to a diverse patient population. Serves as a resource person and may provide direction to staff. Internal customers: All levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: Physicians and their office staff, payers, community agencies and regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or technical degree. Successful completion of a training course in PICC and Banner Health Sims Lab training for CVC insertions.
Proof of good standing with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). A current license in state practiced as required by state law.
Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
In-depth knowledge of clinical techniques, applications and equipment as typically obtained through 4 years of clinical experience as a RRT, including 1 year of independent PICC or CVC line insertions.
Must possess highly effective human relation skills necessary to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CPUI and VA-BC certifications preferred.

6. Demonstrates proactive interpersonal communications skills while dealing with patient concerns through telephone calls, emails and in-person conversations. Optimizes patient flow by using effective customer service/communication skills by communicating to internal and external customers, care team, management, centralized services and HIMS.
7. Assists in responding to requests for patient medical records according to company policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.
8. Provides a variety of patient services to assist in patient flow including but not limited to escorting patients, taking vitals and patient history, assisting in patient treatment, distributing mail and fax information, ordering supplies, etc.
9. Works independently under regular supervision and follows structured work routines. Works in a fast paced, multi-task environment with high volume and immediacy needs requiring independent decision making and sound judgment to prioritize work and ensure appropriateness and timeliness of each patient's care. Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile or non-sterile compounded medications, in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with company policies and procedures and established regulatory requirements. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
If not licensed in the state of practice, must have completed the Board of Pharmacy application process within 30 days of job offer. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Communications Specialist helps assess, plan, and coordinate the patient transport process according to established policies and procedures, state regulations, FAA requirements, and EMS protocols. Responsible for assimilating various forms of information and activating the appropriate medical team and mode of transport based on patient condition, physician request, and/or EMS activation. Tasked with making quality decisions and coordinating logistics while performing a wide range of specialized services and complex communication functions. Responsible for ensuring the safety of patients, medical personnel, and other transport programs through proficiency with dispatch protocols, EOC, MCI, aircraft incident planning, disaster plans, Hazmat, the use of vehicle tracking, and deconfliction, Computer literacy in multiple systems and programs is required as well as an ability to operate a variety of communication equipment. Ability to accurately document detailed medical information, transport activity, medical crew/physician information, and/or agency information that will become part of a legal record. Communication Specialists will have detailed time management skills, excellent public relations skills, and the ability to adapt their approach with each changing request and emergent condition.
B: DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
* Receives and coordinates incoming requests for emergency and routine air and ground transport services
* Activates appropriate medical crew, utilizing critical decision making when determining the use of primary and specialty teams
* Coordinates with the sending/receiving facilities and/or EMS agencies involved by providing enroute times, gathering/relaying patient information, and supplying equipment/medical crew needs

* Flight follows aircraft per FAA requirements and tracks ground movements utilizing GPS tracking software to ensure safety of patients and medical crew

* Deconflicts with other air agencies and coordinates logistics to reduce flight risks and patient arrival delays
* Displays ability to interpret weather systems, read METARs/TAFs, and relay information to/from the Operational Control Center, pilots, medical crews, and requesting/receiving agencies/facilities
* Maintains communication with medical crews through phone calls, radio transmissions, and Nextels
* Arranges med patches for AirLife medical crews/other air agencies to receiving hospitals and is able to relay any portion of the patch that is unreadable or missed with accuracy
* Maintain accurate records regarding computer documentation, according to AirLife Policy/Procedure, in the Computer Aid Dispatch (CAD) system
* Operate all vendor applications as expected
* Operate base station radios, conducting and coordinating all radio communication in a professional manner
* Provide necessary communication assistance, in cooperation with other agencies including: ambulances, law enforcement, fire departments, rescue groups, and between hospitals and aircraft, in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations
* Ensures appropriate emergency response, notifications, and support in the event of an in-flight/transport emergency following all AirLife protocols
* Activates the Emergency Operations Communications Plan for HCA Continental Division emergencies/incidents
* Initiates the Swedish Interventional Radiology Activation Process for all inbound air transports, including other transport agencies, by providing patient demographics, modes of transport, and estimated times of arrival utilized in calling in the team prior to patient arrivals
* Maintain proficiency at determining latitude/longitude, using grid maps, computerized mapping systems, and other internet resources to determine and plot locations described by transport requestors or to determine location of AirLife vehicles and crew
* Participate in mandatory training, competency exercises, drills, complete all education requirements, and attend mandatory Communications Specialist Meetings
II. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists technologists and/or nurses in department by performing non-technical, patient and procedure-related duties in accordance with department/facility policies and procedures. 1. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. May be responsible for QC/validations. Assists in facilitating requests for patient medical records.
3. Provides support in the acquisition and distribution of digital patient records. Digitizes, formats, and uploads film-based or digital images into PACS. Maintains accurate filling system as required based on established department protocols and procedures.
4. Fulfills requests for images and reports ensuring availability in system, hard copy (film), and/or CD as required and follows proper protocols for releasing confidential patient information.
5. Receives patient in applicable systems, confirms patient demographics and insurance information and performs insurance verification when required. May be required to calculate and collect copays, deductibles, and self-pay. Totals charges on patient's super-bill at check-out. Enters pending discharges into the system. As an Exercise Physiologist in the Non-Invasive Cardiac Exercise Testing department at Banner North Colorado Medical Center, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic cardiac services. POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides assessment, treatment, and education to cardiac and pulmonary patients and their families in an outpatient cardiac, pulmonary rehabilitation or inpatient setting. Writes exercise prescriptions to progress patients through phase two and three outpatient rehabilitation _._
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluates patient's functional abilities and limitations to determine appropriate intervention. Develops a plan of care and exercise goals, as ordered by physician or other referral source. Works alongside and receives guidance from other more experienced team members when working in phase I and II cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation. May oversee phase III outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehab independently.
2. Implements individualized exercise plans based on patients' physical and age-specific needs and abilities. Ensures that treatment plans are supported by standard practices and/or current literature. Reevaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure safety and maximum patient benefit.
3. Educates patients, family, and other care providers post cardiac to promote patient participation and attainment of exercise program goals. Provides individualized home programs with clear instructions. Instructs patients and families in pathology, discharge guidelines, risk factor modification, and exercise individually and through classes for both cardiac and pulmonary patients.
4. Under general supervision, documents patient treatment according to professional and regulatory standards.
5. Follows plan of care to accomplish functions within established procedures and scope of practice. Confers with lead or supervisor on any unusual situations.
6. Utilizes basic understanding of medical devices, equipment function and quality control measurements. Adheres to safety policies. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
7. Complies with all ethical, legal and professional responsibilities. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
