The Physician - Internal Medicine/HIV Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive care to HIV patients and management of common and complex diseases. The Internist/ HIV specialist must be able to effectively diagnose patients and suggest a course of treatment and prescribe and administer medications, immunizations, and other non-surgical treatments. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct patient care to Betances patients. Diagnose and treat acute illness, as well as chronic diseases and conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes. Maintenance of a clinic panel of people living with HIV and other patients appropriate to ongoing infectious disease oversight. Prescribe or administer medication, therapy and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients. Monitor patients' conditions and progress, re-evaluating treatments as necessary. Provide health and wellness advice; order age-appropriate screenings, immunize patients against preventable diseases. Adhere to documentation and quality standards set by New York State and any other standards implemented by the Chief Medical Officer. Refer patients to other medical specialists, when necessary. Performs safe, timely and accurate internal transports of patients utilizing a variety of platforms. Assists clinical staff with transferring patients to/from wheelchairs, beds and stretchers as needed to facilitate transportation. Deliver equipment to/from patient care units, clinics and other designated areas as needed. Education, License & Cert: A high school diploma or GED is preferred for this position. Licenses and Certifications: CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire and must be renewed every 3 years. Document all stages of transport in EPIC and ensure that accurate information is input into the system. 6. Act as a transport dispatcher by operating the vocera and EPIC systems, ensuring the timely and accurate dissemination of information to appropriate stakeholders. 7. Disinfect equipment after use and as needed. Demonstrate appropriate oxygen handling and storage. Identifies and reports equipment issues, including malfunction and repairs. Ensures hallways remain clear of equipment and clutter. 8. Assists with performance improvement projects and training of new staff members. 9. Communicates issues and needs of patients with clinical staff as needed. Provides CPR in emergent situations in the absence of clinical staff. Alerts telecommunications office of emergent situations to include medical and facility alerts. 10. Assists with transport of Clinics patients as needed to ensure optimal flow in both the hospital and associated medical office buildings. Other Duties: 1. Role and Responsibilities Provide personal care and supportive services to individuals in the community, in the privacy of their home. Essential Functions Provide health-related services as outlined in the plan of care, authorized by a physician, and established by a registered nurse or licensed therapist, under the direction of the Aide Matrix established by the NYS Department of Health. Provide assistance with personal hygiene, housekeeping and/or other related supportive tasks to a patient with health care needs in his/her home. Immediately report changes in client's condition to supervising professional. Ensure the safety of the client, client's family and/or the employee. Maintain HIPAA. Complete and submit necessary patient documentation including charting tasks and observations on android device. Attend ongoing in-service programs in a timely manner, to maintain certification. All other duties as assigned.
