In the role of Civil/Environmental Engineer, we'll count on you to: * Work on a wide variety of MSW, CCR, planning, or facilities related projects including but not limited to landfills, impoundments, compost facilities, solid waste management plans, feasibility studies, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, household hazardous waste facilities, and organics facilities. * Work with a team of staff engineers in preparation of design deliverables including strategic planning, feasibility studies, waste plans, engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules with support from HDR's national practice leads. * Support planning projects associated with recycling programs, organics, zero waste, circular economy, and sustainability initiatives. * Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and negotiate compliance/permitting actions. * Will also serve as a consultant and supervisor of waste construction management projects as needed. * Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans and specifications. * Assist Senior Engineers in environmental remediation projects that include remediation design and implementation * Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures * Complete projects that have clear, specified objectives and limited variables * Perform administrative duties associated with project management for environmental projects * Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects * Complete duties requiring field work and travel as needed * Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications * 5 years' experience, waste management/design, civil site engineering, or related experience preferred. * Demonstrated understanding of client relationship management and evidence of experience interacting directly with clients higher preferred. * Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, OneNote, etc.). * Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus. * Local candidates preferred Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field * Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation * Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. The position will involve outdoor fieldwork at sites across the United States. Fieldwork may require candidate to walk over uneven terrain up to 8 hours a day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be at site locations, sit, stand, walk, use both hands, and reach and raise items above the head, use fingers to feel and handle, talk, and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight and carry heavy equipment. Job Overview Environmental Specialist will keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs. This position is first shift, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm at Stennis Space Center. Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: * During execution of performance requirements, shall take precautions to protect all government property including furniture, walls, baseboards, and other surfaces. * Report all accidents to your supervisor immediately. * Keep all equipment clean and free from build/up wax and debris. * Think and wok safely and use wet floor signs at all times. * Secure vehicles and equipment at the end of each shift. * Assigned work will be performed as scheduled. * Reposition all items to original position when moved to facilitate cleaning operations when performing all cleaning operations. * All other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: * High school graduate or GED equivalent. * Must be able to drive and possess a valid driver's license. * Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. * Minimum of 1 year experience of floor cleaning, 1 year experience using a floor machine, high speed buffing machine and an extraction carpet shampoo machine. * Must have knowledge of how to properly strip, wax, and seal commercial tile. * Shift work is required (day shift & night shift) must be flexible. * All Environmental Specialists will load and unload their own equipment. * Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge. * Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire). * Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner. * Must have, and maintain, a valid Real ID driver's license. * Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test. Physical Requirements: * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. * Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position. Special Knowledge and Skills: * Good organizational and planning skills. * Good Communication skills. * Ability to pay close attention to detail. * Ability to take direction. * Ability to work with computers. * Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions. * Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team oriented. environment.
