HDR Engineering is currently seeking a Distribution Section Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals.
As a Distribution Business Class Lead in a well-established Power Delivery practice, you'll draw upon your broad technical knowledge and experience in design and construction of electric overhead and underground distribution line projects to lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams. Having previously performed a leading technical role on increasingly complex distribution line projects, you'll be ready to undertake greater challenges and responsibilities.
Duties also include building local teams and/or leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world-class services to clients. You may also support business development activities, including technical support of proposal development, for existing and/or new clients across the practice. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor and train junior technical staff locally and/or in other offices.
Specific duties include:
* Leveraging technical experience and expertise while working in close coordination with a PM, to manage and execute the engineering and design components of distribution projects.
* Developing and implementing a project execution plan for the technical aspect of distribution projects.
* Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians and administrative staff.
* Supporting the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
* Coordinating and/or leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR's Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world class quality.
* Performing quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
* Participating in project reviews as needed.
* At times, leading multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
* Working with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attending training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to the electrical distribution industry.
* At times, assisting with development of technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.

* PE License

Proficient with MicroStation, GeoPak, FDOT SS4, and Civil 3D CADD software.
Experience with survey specific software such as Star*Net, Leica Geo Office, Cyclone, TopoDOT, CAiCE.
Successful history of project/task management on FDOT or Public Works Projects as well as Site Development and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.

This position reports to the Transportation Market Leader and leads and coordinates the overall business development efforts to expand our transportation related professional services to State DOT and local government clients.What You Will Be Doing:
Serve as Stanley Consultants key contact and service manager to our clients in specific transportation markets.
Provide overall leadership and mentoring for the transportation team in the southeast region.
Supervise Client Service Managers in the southeast region offices.
Lead the development of strategic business and client plans for the southeast regions transportation market in coordination with Client Service Managers.
Defend and increase market share with existing state DOT clients.
Capture market share with new state DOT clients.
Defend and increase market share with existing and new county and municipal clients across the southeast region.

Support Client Service Managers to ensure a robust Transportation Market sales pipeline including accurate information for the southeast transportation market opportunities.
Maintain and update sales opportunities in the CRM database and the opportunity report.
Evaluate client needs, identify requirements, and provide clients with value added solutions.
Lead the Go/No-go decision process on potential project opportunities to pursue.
Lead the development of pursuit strategies for key project opportunities.
Develop teaming opportunities with strategic partners to pursue work with state and local agencies within the southeast region.
Identify and bring on necessary and key talent to the existing southeast transportation team.
Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, interviews, and negotiations.
Have the ability to oversee performance of projects to clients and resolve issues as they arise.
Serve as technical liaison to clients on key projects and coordinate technical efforts within discipline areas if necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Bachelor's degree in Business Management
Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience
Established relationships with state DOT clients and other local government clients in the southeast region
Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills
Working knowledge of design software used to prepare engineering and design documents
Knowledge of the southeast regional market
Demonstrated business development skills including leadership of the preparation of statements of interest, technical proposals and interviews
Experience with alternate delivery methods including design-build, progressive design-build and construction management at risk

HDR is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Section Manager for our Florida Building Engineering Services Team in Orlando, Florida. This individual will be administratively responsible for the group as well as technical service functions and will lead and coordinate services with other disciplines. They will be directly involved with clients in project production and related issues, and will be in charge of the implementation, monitoring and support of company policy. They will select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel and help identify and recruit talented staff to enable our mechanical section to grow to meet the design needs of HDR's East Region. They will also be responsible for coordinating workload between BES design centers across HDR, and specifically with improving engagement with our mechanical teams in Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA. This engagement should include regular workload discussions, engagement with shared professional development opportunities, and intentional cross-training of our staff.
Primary Responsibilities
* Responsible for managing and building a design production team to deliver HVAC and Plumbing work through recruitment, staff development, and training.
* Managing workflow and utilization, mentoring and staff development, forecasting and scheduling, quality control, and fostering a team environment
* Function as a technical lead on projects, coordinating with other disciplines across HDR, and leading the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, a s well as the review of shop drawings during construction
* Be directly involved with external clients as well as internal project managers, market sector leads, business group managers, and other leaders throughout HDR
* Expected to help implement, monitor, and support company policies
* Participate in leadership for technical service functions and support the development of HDR services in technical design.
