Business Development Responsibilities -Key activities will include: * Serving as the Client Manager for selected key clients of both Greenfield and Brownfield hard and soft rock mines, including industrial minerals within the area, and be active and visible in the industry. * Promote broader HDR services to clients with the Resources Business Group (RBG) Manager, Mining Practice Lead and Mining BD Lead * Work with RBG Manager on development and delivery of area and department market sector initiatives. * Lead and/or support selected pursuits through client relationship development and/or through development of strategy and participation in pursuit activities. * Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model in business and community organizations, including giving related presentations and participating in panel discussions. * Identify key investments (skills, acquisitions and technology) that will maintain or drive HDR into mining industry leadership position. * Develop relationships with mining counterparts in other consulting organizations. * Develop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations both on-site and corporately. Staff Development Responsibilities - The position will seek opportunities to enhance our practices so that we will best perform within the marketplace to win new work and to provide opportunities for staff growth and development. They will also lead and/or assist with the identification and recruitment of prospective future mining practice employees. * Assume responsibility for coordination support between departments. * Work with the Resources business class directors and Mining Practice to drive technical excellence and coordinate technical staff to support the program and marketing efforts. * Lead the Area in identifying needs and opportunities for new and improved technical services and products so as to maximize the depth, effectiveness and efficiency of the practice. * Work with the Mining Practice Lead, Mining BD Lead and Area Manager to coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires * Assist local leadership as necessary with local hire on-boarding. * Identify resource gaps and support talent management and recruiting. Support to Area - The position will assist the Area Manager and RBG Lead to deliver services within the Industrial sector. Claims Oversight & Management * Primary in-house management of all non-professional liability claims, including GL, Auto, WC, Property, and Management Lines, overseeing reporting, coverage evaluations, reserving, and resolution strategies, with the assistance of a Claims Administrator reporting directly to the Corporate Insurance Manager * Provide oversight and support on Professional Liability claims managed by in-house counsel in collaboration with outside counsel where applicable (i.e., claims in litigation). * Evaluate claims trends to recommend loss-control, risk mitigation, and insurance program adjustments. Enterprise & Project Risk Management * Serve as a key contributor to the company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, identifying emerging risks and recommending strategies to manage or transfer them. * Participate as a core member of the APD Risk Committee, advising on project, insurance, and contractual risk for alternative delivery pursuits. * Partner with Safety, HR, Finance, and operational leadership to assess enterprise-level risks and align insurance strategies with broader risk governance. Contracts, Risk Transfer & Client Requirements * Educate contract reviewers on insurance and risk provisions in client contracts, subconsultant agreements, and teaming arrangements. * Assess and advise on complex client insurance requirements and develop practical, insurable alternatives. * Provide expertise in structuring project-specific placements and risk-transfer mechanisms. * Collaborate with Legal during negotiations, including providing recommendations for insurability and risk allocation. * Respond to internal and external inquiries on complex certificate of insurance matters * Maintain and enhance standard insurance language in contract templates. Loss Control & Internal Collaboration * Coordinate with broker/insurer teams and internal risk and safety staff to implement risk reduction strategies. * Support subcontractor prequalification and compliance with insurance requirements. * Develop and deliver training on insurance, risk management, and claims processes for project managers and operations teams. * Work closely with risk and operations personnel on project risk assessments, insurance adequacy, and internal risk reporting. The Project Coordinator will work with Building Engineering Services (BES) Project Managers and other technical team members in support of the BES Market Sectors and Business groups that BES supports. The duties of the Project Coordinator may include any or all of the following: * Assist BES Project Managers or Designees: * Download required HDR project initiation documents and assist as directed to complete * Download required HDR project execution documents and assist as directed to complete * Update project financial records as directed * Download project financial information as directed * Apply company quality assurance guidelines and procedures for project document management throughout project * Assist with preparing expense reports * Assist with preparing project progress reports for monthly invoicing * Set up project meetings and prepare detailed minutes of meetings * Perform project filing of hard-copy documentation. * Assist in project closeout activities as directed * Manage and edit project specific specifications. Perform project construction administration activities: * Document Management. Establish a document filing, distribution, retrieval, and management system that provides for the identification of critical project records, and distribution, tracking, action notification and status reporting of items requiring iterative review and comment, response or signature to reach closure. * Administration of Submittal requirements * Administration of O&M manual reviews * Maintain submittal schedule and records * Maintain RFI Logs and records * Log project controls documentation and generate tracking reports * Able to conduct Project communication and Project collaboration system workshops with project teams and Owners. * Additional services as defined in contract * Work collaboratively with Information Technology * Support project team members on the completion of documents, including supporting the formatting, word processing, editing and organization of project documents, reports and correspondence * Create, develop and edit PDF files, Word documents and templates, Excel spreadsheets and charts and PowerPoint presentations based on input from project team members.
