Cash Room Operations In the absence of the Assistant Manager-Operations, verify Cashier-balancing procedures are followed. In the absence of the Assistant Manager-Operations, verify deposit procedures and policies are followed on a daily basis. Help prepare deposit, long/short recap, cashier over-short acknowledgements, and sales audits. Verify weekend vault counts and randomly verify vault. Office Operations Provide assistance to the Assistant Manager-Operations in the completion of multiple office duties, including receiving, invoices, purchase orders, inventory adjustments, etc. Audit On an as needed basis, provide assistance to the Assistant Manager-Operations in the completion of the quarterly audit checklist. On as needed basis, observe Cashiers for proper phone etiquette, greeting customers, handling returns correctly and that the customers are being treated attentively. Front End Appearance and Upkeep Keep the front end neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end. Keep impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change. Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times. Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times. Assist with decorating the front end according to the Store Support Center program. Call for cart pickups when necessary. Perform all other duties as assigned. Leadership Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to the General Manager for follow up. Participate in store and Cashier meetings. Assist with training and development of new cashiers.     Job DescriptionSalary: $24 per hour The San Mateo County Event Center is a public assembly facility that hosts a wide variety of events and produces the San Mateo County Fair, and operates the Jockey Club, a satellite wagering facility for horse racing as well as a full-service food service operation. The cashier is responsible for operating the POS/Cash register in multiple locations to ensure an accurate and smooth flow of customer traffic. This is an as-needed position for specific events, and the position will not have a regular or set schedule. Essential Functions/Responsibilities Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner. Provide information about the food and beverage offerings and take patron orders. Ensure that patron needs are met promptly and resolve any issues or concerns with a positive and solution-oriented attitude. Demonstrates knowledge of products/menus and can answer specific questions, including describing the products/menus. Promote and up-sell products/menus to increase sales revenue. Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a receipt for a credit card transaction. Accurately process credit and debit card transactions. Verifies the validity of charges and receives card payments from guests. Coordinates food orders, ensuring hot food is quickly and accurately delivered from the cook to the customer. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the concession area, including countertops, food displays, and utensils. Restock food and beverage supplies as needed, ensuring proper storage and handling procedures are followed. Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized work environment, including cleaning tables, counters, and floors as needed. Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment for customers and staff. Collaborate with other team members and management to ensure smooth operations and provide support during busy times. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have experience handling credit card transactions Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work efficiently and under pressure. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management, co-workers, clients and customers using principles of good customer service. Possess a positive attitude, work well independently and as part of a team. Requires being responsible, reliable and dependable to fulfill job obligations. Work long and irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays. Minimum Requirements Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the responsibilities of this position. One year of cashier experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to obtain a valid Food Handlers certification within 30 days of employment.
