Who is Tim Headington? To start with, he's a Dallas, Texas-based oil tycoon who was inspired by his geologist father to found Headington Oil in 1978.
In 2008 he made his fortune by selling acreage in North Dakota's Bakken shale oil play to XTO Energy (now part of ExxonMobil ) for $1.85 billion.
Headington College was established in 2015 as one of two inaugural residential colleges of the University of Oklahoma.
In August of 2017, Headington College became home to nearly 300 undergrad and graduate students from over 33 states and 38 countries.
