Serves as a resource to other technologist, trains new technologist, trains students and functions as an informal lead technologist role as needed. The Surgical Technologist provides clinical support in the Champaign Endoscopy Center. As a member of the endoscopy team, the Surgical Technologist assists with patient care activities, obtains specimens, assists physician with instruments and setting up and tearing down room between cases. Role includes reprocessing of endoscopes and accessory instruments and resource for technical equipment within the department. Prior to functioning as a licensed EMS provider, applicants must test into the Carle Regional EMS System, which may include a written exam and a skills assessment. Responsibilities Responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured. Checks and monitors ambulance readiness. Clearly communicates crew and vehicle position at all times Cleans ambulances, utility vehicles, and crews quarters daily. Provides direction to EMT's while on ambulance calls. Transports patients in wheel chair van when needed. Manages care of patients during transport to the hospital. Provides initial emergency measures and continuum of care on neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the level of training as an Emergency Medical Technician. Performs in the pre-hospital environment to the level of training established by your state and national guidelines to the level of EMT.
