What You Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Health, or related field (Master's preferred)
7+ years of progressive safety experience with at least 4 years in a plant leadership role
Experience managing safety professionals and leading cross-functional initiatives
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety auditing, and risk mitigation strategies
A collaborative spirit, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence across functions
Experience with workers' compensation, regulatory interaction, and return-to-work programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the tools needed to manage complex safety data
Preferred Qualifications
Professional safety certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH, PE)

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Works directly with the Project Manager and the management team to develop and implement an effective site-specific EHS plan, while adhering to all corporate, divisional, and regional EHS programs and processes.
+ Assists Project Managers and EHS Managers/Specialists in the coordination of subcontractor EHS protocols, including vendors and owner personnel working on company project(s). Coordinates project EHS programs with subcontractors. Assists in planning and coordinating work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages.
+ Coordinates quarterly comprehensive on-site EHS audits. Periodically inspects and evaluates the project site, equipment and processes for compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations, as well as company and owner policies and procedures.
+ Conducts accident investigations and completes incident reporting for Project Management review.
+ Accompanies injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation. Ensures all EHS protocols are followed.
+ Advises Project Management on Industrial Hygiene protocols; performs Environmental Monitoring.
+ Manages Company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, ensuring proper testing for Pre-Employment, Vehicle Authorization, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Random, and Follow-Up.

Provide leadership for the Pilot Chemical Middletown, OH facility in process safety, occupational safety, environmental, transportation, and security related areas through the following dimensions.
Provide support and leadership for all EHSS issues within the facility.
Ensure scheduling and delivery of all EHSS training as required by applicable regulations.
Facilitate the timely completion of all site-specific audits, reports and incident investigations.

Function as the primary point of contact for the facility regarding any significant events at the plant. A significant event may include a chemical release, truck accident, employee injury, etc.
Responsible for plant regulatory engagement through participation with local safety councils, trade associations and regulatory/legislative contacts.
Improve overall compliance with the Contractor Safety Program.
Includes oversight of the ISNetworld to ensure contractors working at our locations have an A or B grade. May include assisting local Pilot Contact to improve a contractor's grade.
Work with Operations and Project Engineers to guide and audit contractors performing project or repair work, utilizing our safety programs and permits.
Participate in the Process Safety Management (PSM) Program to include, but not limited to, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and other safety reviews of processes and projects.
Continuously improve required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work with engineering to eliminate or reduce PPE required tasks.
Coach, mentor and develop the facility's staff to embrace and live a culture of safety first.
Responsible for timely completion and submission of all plant-level regulatory documentation to local, state, and federal government agencies, not limited to Tier II reporting, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting, hazardous waste reports, air emission reports and fees, storm water Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMR's), NOX MECT, and other government submissions, as required.
Ensure completion of all monitoring and recordkeeping requirements for all current permits including but not limited to Air, Stormwater, Wastewater, and other permit monitoring/recordkeeping requirements.
Responsible for tracking air emissions as applicable along with stormwater and wastewater discharges as required by a state-specific permit. This includes working with plant Engineers and Corporate EHS on forecasting permitting needs and applying for any required environmental permits.
Implement and ensure completion of all recordkeeping requirements and maintain local, state, and federal required written plans, which include but are not limited to Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP); Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (CPCC), Benzene monitoring program or other required written plans as required.
Oversee the cradle-to-grave management of all waste streams (e.g. hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste) including streams that are being used for beneficial reuse.
Competencies Required:
Minimum of a BS degree in EHS, Industrial Hygiene, Science or Engineering.
A minimum of 3-5 years of HS&S experience and strongly prefer experience in a chemical manufacturing PSM environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of regulations including, but not limited to pertinent Local/State/Federal EPA, OSHA, PSM, DHS and DOT regulations.

Though this role is primarily focused on Environmental, Health and Safety rules, processes and procedures it will also have responsibilities around the food safety and quality assurance departments.
The following general responsibilities have been established for the Safety Coordinator role.
Primary Responsibilities
· Work with the site Safety Manager to develop, implement, review, and continuously improve site safety and health programs to ensure compliance with company, federal, and state/provincial regulations.
· Perform administrative duties of the safety department (e.g., google sheets data entry, create/maintain training records, input to monthly safety scorecard, maintain employee involvement tracking, etc.).

· Partner with site leadership and associates to reduce risk, injuries, illnesses, and meet compliance obligations.
· Spend quality time on the floor building relationships, learning the process, products, and equipment and observing behaviors/conditions.
· Intervene and stop operations, behaviors and activities that could harm associates or cause damage to equipment or infrastructure.
· Participate in safety inspections, paired safety observations, and audits to determine if physical conditions and behaviors align with WY and regulatory requirements. Own at least one section of the company safety audit for the site.
· Assist in the development and execution of site risk-based safety plans and tracking plan action items to completion.
· Conduct Incident Investigations
o Complete (LMS) incident investigator training for supervision
o Lead/participate in timely incident investigations to ensure high quality, identification of root causes, and application of appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence of similar incidents.
o Assist in preparation of quality investigation reports (SCATs) tracking corrective actions to completion.
· Safety Onboarding and Training
o Assist with the safety onboarding process, introducing site-specific safety policies and procedures, Weyerhaeuser, and business safety standards, and facilitating safety compliance training.
o Assist in facilitating the annual assessment and revision of the program, as necessary based on assessment findings, to ensure its effectiveness.
o Conduct contractor and visitor safety orientations as required.
o Ensure orientations are updated and current to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
· Become knowledgeable of federal, state/provincial, and company safety and health requirements applicable to your location.
· Partner with leadership and associates to respond to health and safety concerns and ideas. Close the loop and follow up.
· Assist site teams in developing, reviewing, and updating written safety procedures such as JSAs, SOPs and machine-specific lockout procedures.
· Assist the Safety Manager implement all aspects of the site industrial hygiene (IH) program including periodic air and noise monitoring, chemical management, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, etc.
· Maintain a high standard of confidentiality regarding personal, protected health information (work- related injury/illness records, personal IH monitoring results, hearing testing, etc.).
· Act as the site safety contact for your individual bakery.
Qualifications

Conducts annual training for HOS, alcohol and drug testing requirements, driver vehicle inspections, commercial motor vehicle driver basics, driver safety and EHS responsibilities at the DC or on the road.
Works with HR to maintain correct driver safety history records based on citations, inspections, etc.
Acts as company representative with DOT and PUCO audits. Conducts mock safety audits to gauge compliance with our records and fleet programs.
Reviews electronic logs with Operations to avoid DOT liability. Report issues to DC Managers for correction and discipline as necessary.
Reviews, communicates and trains affected associates on Comprehensive Safety Analysis (CSA) in order to determine our BASICs and our CSMS assessment grade.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 7 years of EHS experience in Mfg, Warehouse and Private Fleet environments.
Must have a thorough understanding of EPA regulations including Ohio EPA's eBusiness center, Tier II reporting, Air permits, EPCRA section 312 and 313, hazardous waste, universal waste, CERCLA and storm water pollution prevention.
Must possess extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and the required safety programs and training needed such as guarding, lockout/tagout, confined space, welding and hot work, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, power industrial trucks, etc.
Must be proficient with the new hazard communications requirements, the global harmonized system of labeling and safety data sheets management and retention requirements.
Knowledge of department of transportation regulations for fleet safety, accident compliance and CSA 2010.
Excellent communication (written & verbal) and organizational skills.
Must be detailed oriented and analytical and be capable of performing root cause analysis to identify trends in data.
Must be capable of interacting, training and motivating associates at all levels to think safety first.
