Charlie served as Chairman and CEO of Vanguard Health Systems since the company's inception in 1997. Under his leadership, Vanguard grew to become a Fortune 500 company. Vanguard was acquired by Blackstone Group in 2004 for approximately $1.75 billion. Prior to forming Vanguard, he served as Chairman, President and CEO of OrNda HealthCorp. Under his leadership, OrNda grew from revenue of $450 million to $3 billion in four years to become the nation's third-largest investor-owned hospital management company. His career includes serving as President, Director and COO of HealthTrust Inc., as well as Executive Vice President and Director of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and COO and Director of General Care Corp. Charlie has served on numerous Boards of Directors, including 10 healthcare companies. He previously served on the board of Council Capital portfolio company NotifyMD. He received a BS from Southern Adventist University.
